Click the option at the bottom that looks like two flags, then click "Create a landmark", then click "Area". Name the area whatever you would like and click ok. When you are ready click "draw" (bottom left) and that will start your first pin. You can then just move the screen around or practice turning the draw off and on to get better by clicking the draw on and off and moving the screen.

You can also makes paths, routes, or waypoints (stands, cameras)by clicking on the two flags and clicking 'Create a landmark' again.

What qda said.you can draw a path or create an area.also you can click the location to turn on gps.click the tracker button also.this will record everywhere u go.if it's a trail or road you can just draw a color path over it.all my roads I make yellow.borders are red.
Also use the Google China map.it will allow you to store an entire area offline so you can use this program with no cell signal.
Use the compass and turn on rotate map with compass.point the phone to where u wanna go and start walking.will take u straight to it without having to walk in circles waiting for a gps fix

When you say use the Google China map which one are you talking about? I tried to download the google Arial map but it said that this feature is only avaliable with the full version. Or can you even do that with the free lite version?

It looks like I need to get the full version to be able to draw in the areas. I think I can splurge and spend 9.99 on this.

its worth 10 times more than 10 dollars.Yes use the google china. You cannot download an offline map under regular google.the china sattelite is a loophole that will allow you to download an entire map area and all the tiles.
Scoutlook sucked because when google stopped allowing people to download there maps with third party software they kept it on the down low to still sell the POS app.so if you dont have a good signal in the woods you wont know where the F&*K your at.I emailed and complained to trimble and they kept making excuses on why the dwnload feature didnt work than i found out the truth.I found alpine quest and havnt even bothered using any other mapping software.
Alpine quest gives you the option of a shucks ton of maps including the bing map. That map will be very helpful finding old logging roads and trails you never knew was there.

I use Spyglass app for navigating in the woods. It allows to save a needed map area in the cache and use it later even without internet, though it's not a large area. The big plus of this app is the possibility to save several waypoints and spots: I usually mark hunting stands and my car location with it. And you can also send your location for your pals.
OnX Hunt is also pretty cool, it shows private areas and land owners names.
