How good are these scopes? Is a BNIB crossfire II 3-12x56 with a 30mm and V-Brite reticle worth $250?

I would buy something else, save a little more and get a better brand, Vortex is not that good in my opinion, especially their lower end scopes, I owned a Viper 6.5-20x50 and was very disappointed in the clarity, had blurred edges and all. Was not much better than a Tasco.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

I would listen to shooters advice on this. Believing or not, I think he knows what he is talking about on this stuff. For sure. thumbup

I actually have the scope you asked about and absolutely love it. I haven't had any problems with mine. That's just my opinion though.

I have owned 4 Vortex scopes and still have 3 of them. My father in law has the 4th. The crossfire II is their entry level line. I have one in 4-12x44 that I hunt with. It is not on the same level as my Viper HS-T but it's about $500.00 cheaper. I have used and shot about every big named scope out there an for the money you can't beat a Vortex. That being said, If I were gonna put that kind of money in a Crossfire II, I look at the Diamondback line and more specifically the Diamondback HP.

You shoulda sent that back to Vortex. They would have made it right. That is NOT a common problem with the Viper line

Replaced all my scopes with vortex. Havent had any problems and their warranty cant be beat. Havent had to replace any of them and have held up to heavy recoil.

Doc,

After reading the reviews of this scope I thought I was getting a decent scope, boy was I wrong. I own a few Zeiss Conquest and Meopta, was not expecting it to be of that quality but at least on par with VX3's. It was maybe of Swift quality glass. It was truly a disappointment. I'm saving my dimes for a Super Sniper 5-20x50 for my 308. I'll never buy a Votux again.

Just thinking about this scope to go on a very old model 100 .308 that "gundoc" repaired for me a few months back. Don't plan on huntin with it a lot or even at all,but want it ready just in case I get the urge to get it out.

BTW thanks again Wes on the repair.

My next Vortex will be the PST model with the lighted reticle. It runs around the $750 to $900. A buddy of mine has 2 of them and loves them. My crossfire has held zero well on my Ruger 30:06.

I have a Vortex Crossfire II 4x12x40 AO on my CZ American 22 lr. I know there's not much recoil but it seems clear and bright for squirrel hunting.

FYI Vortex gives a great military discount also in the 35-45% range.

Vortex makes a really good scope. I cant speak for the cheaper models,BUT I have 3 of the PSTs and have shot them out to 1400 yards and they always returen to Zero! I KNOW for a fact they have been used over seas by Military Contractors. The Razor = Vortex will stand -up to 338 Lapua recoil. Vortex has great costumer service. They give discounts to LEOs and Military guys. Lots of test has been done on them on Snipers Hide = tourture wise. Glass is better than Mark 4 Leupold and very rugged. I am RUFF on equipement and have had no trouble in 3 years with mine. Also concider the 4x16x50 HS for around 325-350 on ebay. Its just like the PST but without the lighted reticle. It has the V reticle type , I think? thumbup

I want to hate Vortex but I am coming around after looking through as many as I have. For the money they are probably some of the better options at their respective price points.

I might just buy one... well, nahhhh maybe not. But they have decent glass and a great no fault warranty which you might need.

I thought I saw a = Nikon comercal with a No Fault warrnty as well the other day??? I also like Nikon. The old 2.5x10x56 Nikon Monarch with 30mm tube and German reticle I have is Identical in light gathering as my S&B 2.5x10x56. BUT the S&B is clearer of course,BUT the Nikon was 1000 dollars less grin
