True story: Back in college(2001ish) a buddy of mine had a house that had a massive back yard. We could shoot 20 to maybe 25 at our houses but at his 75 yards all day long. His yard had a chain link fence, but the neighbors on his left and right both had privacy fences that served a good back stop for crazy flyers. Well another buddy came by one afternoon and I put a new sight on his bow that he just bought. So I got it installed and lined up, and we went out back to shoot, he was shooting good, and we got it dialed in for him. He backed out to 40 and his 1st arrow glanced off the target(it was a 3D boar target and the arrow skipped off its back) and stuck right in the privacy fence, it had penetrated about 6-7 inches. We walked over to get his arrows after he shot them all and he grabbed the one in the fence and it didn't budge. I got a ladder and looked over the fence and the unlucky S.O.B center punched the neighbors pool pump. We very carefully got the arrow out and decided right then to keep that between us. Well the next day I happened to look over the fence and the pool was about 3-4 foot low!! I called my buddy to let him know, and he came over to see for himself. After looking everything over there were several other holes in the boards from misses over the years and we knew we were busted. Still he decided to not say a word. About 3 days later the neighbor came over one morning and knocked on the door, and told us that she had figured everything out, the stupid part we overlooked was that we didn't even try to hide the targets, they were still lined up aiming right where the pump was. My buddy who's house it was told her that he'd get to the bottom of it, as he didn't know it happened, we never told him. She was rather nice about it considering the damage, but after she left I told him the whole story. My buddy that shot the arrow ended up spending about $500 to get her pool fixed! Needless to say the backyard range was no longer open, and it sucked because it was such a sweet set up.
