Written rules are only way to go, even when it is only a few members whether family, friends or strangers. We have six members on 1315 acres. We divided our area into 12 sections. A member signs out for an area and that member along with any guest they bring must stay in that area. Additionally we have a rule that any deer taken by a guest count as that members deer. We have a set number of does each year an allow 3 bucks per member, only 2 with firearm. Hope it works out, I would definately get that cleared up.

I doubt the lease is part in your name so your screwed.Just chalk it up as a lesson learned brother cause if you piss someone off your gonna be hucking around in blackwater park this year. All you will be able to do is take it court or otherwise whoop someones ass.
I would seriously let it go cause all your complaint is gonna do is piss em off and make em look for a reason to throw you off the property.Just play dumb, say yes sir and no sir,and take all my above advice.

Look, there is a difference in giving a bunch of guys permission to hunt and giving some guys permission to hang out during the summer. Ask what the deal is and don't react until you know all the facts for sure.

you already stated they didnt want 2 more people on there lease but took you in for financial reasons. You already know there is gonna be issues.state guidelines will change when no one sees any deer.will go from a doe a day to 2 total and them rules will get made up half way thru season.Im positive if you shoot a stud buck they will find a good reason to lock you out.
If you truly feel like bringing up the issue is going to helpo your cause and keep them from letting all there buddies come out there than go for it but i would not hold your breath

Your situation is the same old story that plagues most hunt clubs. All members equal but some are more equal than others. Management by committee. Rule makers are often the biggest rule breakers. 80% of the problems caused by 20% of the members including club officers.

My advice is to to buy/lease your own land and manage it your way. Then solicit members who think and hunt the way you do. Make it clear up front how the program works. If someone doesn't like the way you manage, then don't allow them to join.

I can relate to this topic. This is my first year in my club. I know several people in it previous to joining. I have already been surprised at some of the decision making before the season even starts. Therefore i wont be able to bow hunt how i like and forced into another tactic. Its too late now, im too much invested at this point so i will try to stick it out for the season and move on starting Feb 1st.

How many times have I heard a similar story when it comes to hunting? Some people will say.... "Well, it's only a deer!" Yeah, well, it's only your time and money too. I guess your time and money isn't important?

Stop spending money on unknown outcomes. Don't enter into an agreement without rules!!!! All clubs should have specific rules and esp when it comes to guests and family members!!!

"Oh I don't like a lot of rules!", say a person. That's right... until another member does something he doesn't like and THEN he wants a rule to address that problem.

Folks, rules are good. Well, quality rules are good. Guests are the MAIN reason for hunting club dissatisfaction. I would have a strict guest policy and just because a member has a hunting wife and ten kids, doesn't mean he has unlimited hunting rights for them all.

Rules are good and I wouldn't pay any money until a set of rules were drawn up and agreed upon and signed by all.

1 membership=1 gun in the woods & total harvest limit per membership,ie, 3 bucks/4 does. Problem solved. If someone wants to bring guests, buy more memberships

If they keep bringing extra guests, maybe we put together an Aldeer dog drive/cook out there one weekend. That'll learn em.

You need to sit down and have a discussion and get everyone on the same page. I would have no problem with a member bringing a guest(s), but the member would have to be there with his guest at all times and it would count as one of your bucks. To me if you are sitting in separate stands a guest is a guest whether it's a son, wife, or friend. I've seen some club leaders bend the rules here and say that they and there 5 kids can hunt all the time but that you can only bring one "guest". The bottom line is you just need to have a pleasant meeting in which y'all discuss rules/things and have the same rules consistently applied across the board. If that doesn't work just give TatSoul a key to the gate and let him start stacking them up in the floor board of his CanAm. smile

Were the guys on camera hunting? If not they haven't broken any rules.....yet.

I Also agree on a deer limit 3bucks/3 or 4 does max per membership, which includes your guests and family.

In all seriousness if it keeps on in season. I do realize sometimes people do bring guests in summer since they aren't hunting, but just to have company. But I'd seriously consider shooting my fair share and more deer. Sling lead.

I fixed all these problems in my lease.

Wives pay, period. Only had one and she gladly paid. Only kids in school hunt free.

Guests are $25 a day. Doe only.

No guests turkey hunting.

Want to share camp with buddies that aren't members, go to wma.

No issues since these were passed.

Get the facts before jumping to conclusions. Until you talk to them you really don't know what's going on.

AlabamaSwamper has it figured out!!!!! It depends on how your setup is but to me, the "paying member" and his (or her) limited number of kids in school hunt on member's membership

However, if the member has 20 kids, only X number of his hids hunts at the same time.

Guests and unlimited family members hunting at a hunting club causes more problems than any other issues.
