I heard about it for years and ate there last summer while I was in trial up there. I was extremely disappointed. People in Decatur must be starved for good BBQ.

LOL. It could be worse. People on Sand Mountain have to drive off of the mountain to find good BBQ. The only exception that I know of is Barry's BBQ. And it's out in the middle of nowhere up near Fyffe.

I've eaten there several times and not quite sure what the talk is about. It's average at best.

Found Big Cove BBQ over here in Owens Cross Roads. It certainly impressed my Texan taste buds.

LMAO.... I love these best restaurant threads. One guy comes on and says Place A is great. Then another guy comes in and says Place A is a chithole and they need to go to Place B and C. Then someone comes and says Place B and C sucks. Then we start over. grin

Can't speak to the Decatur restaurant location, but Gibson's does damn good in bbq competitions. They won first place in shoulder this year at Memphis in May and were Grand Champion last year. That is the highest award you can win in the bbq competition world. I'm sure at the restaurant the bbq isn't cooked to the same level as they do in competitions, but if they wanted to they could.

The Brick's Mushroom and Swiss Burger is the bomb!!

I like Whitt's better than Big Bob's as far as BBQ goes.
IMO the best BBQ around the area is "Chief and Snookies".
It's a rather new joint on Highway 24 about 5-6 miles west of Decatur over in East Lawrence.

Exactly correct, they win & continue to win competitions, but that same type Que isn't served in their restaurants, IMO. Their pork is just ok. I prefer the turkey & their pies always satisfy.

Am surprised The Brick was mentioned multiple times in a BBQ thread. They've got great sandwiches, a good variety of craft beer, & excellent customer service, but no BBQ at all.

It's a chain, but the Moe's BBQ next to the Princess Theater is quite good, though the pulled pork is just ok. Sides are great as are the ribs. If there on a Thurs, get the Thanksgiving sandwich.

BB Perins is quite good also.
