If your talking Alaska or Canada for critters bigger than elk I'd be looking for a 338WM. Hard to beat a 30-06 for a 1 gun arsenal for anything in the contential US.

That would be my Remington nylon 66 22lr! It will kill everything you mentioned. As far as an all around deer rifle, 700 3006/270.
