Tie a rope at the bottom of the tree and stretch it to six feet er so above the stands and tie it. Attach harness with a prussic knot that slides up and down the rope, if ya fall it catches ya. Attach at the ground and unattach when ya get back to the ground.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I always used one of the climbing ropes, 1/2" or so.

Attach at the ground and unattach when ya get back to the ground. This X 2! Buy you some good paracord. Google prussic knot and learn thoroughly how to tie it and use it. Good luck. Be safe with those boys.

Attach at the ground and unattach when ya get back to the ground. Exactly. All my stands have the static line and prussic knot. Great setup and very effective.

I made one using double braided dock line from Academy. You can buy a 25ft long peice for $15 and then 15ft of rope for the prussic knot for $10. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/marine-r...hildCatid=15348I also bought some bluewater 11mm static rope off ebay for cheaper per ft than the rope from Academy. Now I just got to figure out what the post office did with it!!!

I've made up several of these using an appropriate work load rated rope that is both weather and uv proof to prevent material breakdown. I use 5/8" for my safety line and 3/8" for the Prussic Knot. Buying a 100 foot roll or more is the cheaper way to go.

I "think" that a fall rating on a rope is supposed to be 10x your body weight. I use 1/2" steel cable. LOL
I tried to buy some climbing rope and make my own but I would have been just as cheap to buy the pre made ones and I know they are safe.
Finding rope for the prussic knot was the hardest part.

If you hunt out of a lock-on and you're not using these incredibly easy-to-use LifeLines and you have kids that depend on you, shame, shame, shame on you. X2

My brother and I set up a double stand set up today with a lock on and climber in one tree. We are going to use these to hunt double with our kids. We plan on using these setups until they are old enough to climb. My main concern is safety. I want them connected to a safety line from a harness at all times. I've never done one like that and wondering if anyone could give me some ideas or point me in a direction for supplies and what I'll need. I use the premade ones by summit and HSS. Just curious on how you will use climber if you have sticks steps or screw in steps for the lock on? wont they get in the way of climbing with the climber?
