My brother and I set up a double stand set up today with a lock on and climber in one tree. We are going to use these to hunt double with our kids. We plan on using these setups until they are old enough to climb. My main concern is safety. I want them connected to a safety line from a harness at all times. I've never done one like that and wondering if anyone could give me some ideas or point me in a direction for supplies and what I'll need. I use the premade ones by summit and HSS. Just curious on how you will use climber if you have sticks steps or screw in steps for the lock on? wont they get in the way of climbing with the climber? Maybe was a stupid question. I suppose you will use the steps and just carry the climber up and set it up...correct? Just trying to visualize you set up because I like the idea for hunting with kids.

Unless you just absolutely don't care about yourself or any of the people that care about you. And for $18, can you really justify making your own?

That single is a good deal and is hard to beat. I figured I could Build them for around $12 with the materials I listed above. That would be enough for me to have 6 more so I would have one in every tree I climb

while your building the lines, add one more prusic line once tie the knot the drop should be 3 to 4 feet, keep in your pocket till needed if you fall ,it will let you make a step so can recover easy. prusic step line will be a big loop, when you step in it, it should be about 4'long.then you can stand up.

I just set the climber up reverse to the lock on. So its already set up in the tree. So you would be using it as a lock on stand. We actually run the cables behind the bar for the hang on so that the climber has little room to move.

Good Idea Garyo, I put a long piece of large parachord in my safety vest last year for just that. I did make 3 last night. Real easy and was kida fun to do. Bought the rope and connectors from tractor supply. You can order the rope online cheaper. I ended up with about $16 ea. My weakest link is the rope I used for the prusic knot. It was only rated for around 400lbs. When I find some better 3/8 I may replace them.
