My wife bought me a Millennium lock on for our wedding anniversary this weekend and I needed some input from you guys about hanging it. I went and placed it on one of my favorite spots mid-day Saturday and followed all their directions on rolling the bracket to tighten the chain but could still not get it as tight as I wanted it. Once I slid the stand into the bracket there was still a lot of movement from the platform of the stand. I ended up putting a ratchet strap around the bottom of the platform to help make it more secure but I had trouble finding a place to hook the ratchet strap because of the size of the tubing on the stand. Anybody have an advice on hanging these stands or maybe know of something I could be doing wrong with the bracket?

You got married during football season? You have more issues than a ratchet strap.

Ratchet strap at the bottom is the only way to 100% secure it.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I use the green strap that comes with a summit climber around the bottom of the millennium.

That's what I ended up doing with it, and it was very secure after I put the ratchet strap on there I just didn't know if there might be something wrong I was doing with the chain bracket.

Sure did, Auburn had a night game out of town and Bama had a bye week.... My schedule with rodeo keeps me to busy to try to have a wedding any other time so November or December was the only time we could make it work, chose early November considering we were wanting an outdoor wedding. It still ended up being freezing cold that day to...Just my luck haha

I follow their instructions and it usually is pretty tight after flipping the bracket around. However, I always add another strap around the stand and tree for good measure.

I just put the bracket on, flip it, throw the stand on and hop in. I don't put another strap around it.

If you ever find yourself in a situation where you have one foot on a climbing stick/tree step and the other on the stand and for some reason you have to push against the stand with that foot you will likely be in for a pretty good scare.......or worse. Been there/done that.

I've been using Millennium stands exclusively for a couple of years now and have always noticed they seem to move slightly side to side a small amount when you first hang them on certain barked trees. However, once you get in them and put some weight on the front of the stand that usually goes away if you have the chain secured tightly. I only use the chain on type...Not the ratchet straps and place the receiver higher up on the taper of the tree and then wiggle it down lower on the tree taper to take out any excess slack in the chain. I always use a few extra screw in steps to get a little higher than I want to hang the stand. I never use another strap and always feel secure. There is no way that spear is going to com e out of that cam receiver and vermin can't chew through chain. Try this method and I think you will be satisfied with security of the stand. Of course I use and strongly recommend having fall restraint protection from the time my foot hits the climbing stick on the way up until my feet hit the ground coming down.

I also use Millenniums exclusively. Place the bracket higher than you need and when you flip it, it will slide down into place. The weight of the stand will also help it settle.

I always attach a ratchet at the bottom and just find a place for the S hooks. It makes the platform nice and secure. As an added precaution, I always add a second ratchet to the top section of the climbing stick. I don't want any wiggle when I step from the ladder to the platform.

I also highly recommend attaching life lines for use with your safety harness. You hook up at the bottom of the tree and slide the knot up as you go. You're always attached to the tree especially when you step from the ladder to the platform.

Thanks guys, I will mess with it some more next time I'm in there to hunt and see if maybe I didn't get the chain tight enough. I can't wait to hunt out of it, man they are comfortable!

Actually don't tighten up the chain as tight as you can. I have several Milleniums and have been using them for years. Hang the chain about 6" higher than where you wantthe stand to be, roll the hanger block over and slide down until it is in a bind. I like about a 20 degree down angle on the chain. Your preference on the extra strap at the bottom, just know that if you push sideways it will wiggle a little bit.
