I generally hunt in bayou la batre or the swamp around my house but I have a deer lease in Bladon Springs and was wanting to try some birds up on the river. I haven't ever duck hunted up that way but was wondering if or where you can hunt at up that way. Is the refuge marked so you don't hunt it. Just curious about it up there.

Most of the places I have been, the boundaries were well marked.

Been a long time but I have hunted the area. Not many huntable areas boat accessible. Those areas will be very crowded.

The refuge is well marked but the duck hunting can get crowded, quick. There are ducks there, but the big ducks stay on the refuge. The last couple of years the duck numbers are down due to the cut in federal money. Less money means no food planted for them. Hopefully all of this will be changed in 2016!

The refuge starts at the pipeline pump station on the river which is just south of lenoir landing and goes south all the way to turkey creek. If you stay off the west side of the river you won't have any worries, you can also download a map from the wildlife website or pick one up at the check stations. I'm from the area and know all of the boundaries pretty good.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.
