Our deer normally Are starting to get hot after Thanksgiving and full fledge rut the first week of December. They turn back on at Christmas for a few days. However this picture was captured November 5. That deer can't be more than a month old. That would put it being conceived in early March late February either way a 2 month difference... What do ya'll think????

I see South Al in your signature, is that where you hunt?

Our lease is in Brooklyn. I have does carrying on camera all the way up till Oct 3. And our rut never kicked off during season, atleast on our place.

I hunt that area of the county as well. Our peak rut is always Late January early Feb.

given it's size, I'd WAG it at 1-1.5 months, certainly no older than 1.5 months. Reddish coat and bright spots deem it young.

I live in Dothan. I do most of my deer hunting in Elkmont, Limestone County 5 minutes from TN. Either way that doe was in heat extremely late... Bucks are ready anytime.

Treetop, was this deer in Elkmont? I know a little history up there. That is a late born for that area, but with your deer numbers being what they are, I would expect a few does to get bred their second or third cycle.

Yes, this deer was in Elkmont. I would think thanksgiving to December 8 would be our first cycle, around Christmas would be the second cycle third cycle in January. I was thinking it would even have to be later than that given the size.

I saw a fawn the same size today while walking around.

You are spot on with your dates in that part of Limestone Co and that fawn is the latest I have ever seen in Northern Limestone.

I think we're gonna be a little later with rut this year!

A buddy of mine saw two bucks dogging the same doe back and forth for about 10 minutes yesterday morning... Cool weather has 'em moving.
