My brothers truck broke down and we had the fever bad so we stole my stepfathers Mitsubishi 3000gt sports car while he was out of town and of course we would shoot a big six point and have to drag him a 1/2 mile back to the damn car. Then we tried to stuff him in the trunk and he wouldn't fit so we got the carpet all bloody and decided to tie him on the hood and drive an hour back home. It was quite comical, damn car looked like a murder scene.

I loaded my first deer into my buddy's mid 70's model T-bird because my truck wasn't dependable enough to make the trip to Oakmulgee. Well, partly because we didn't want to ride 3 wide in a single cab truck either.

I had a 1988 Nissan Maxima, as I had to sell the Ford F150 when I decided to go back to college. The Maxima had a few animals in its trunk.

Hunted out of a 1965 Ford Falcon for a couple of years. Also used a Dodge K-car to turkey hunt out of. That ole Dodge would fly through some mud with front wheel drive!

Buddy of mine, his dad and his brother hunted for years out of a VW Rabbit diesel. Sometimes I went with them and we packed in like sardines. They kilt a big 8 and brought it out on top. Got a lot if looks. They hauled a lot of deer out in that thing.

318i BMW............ Hunted 2 seasons on the Eglin AFB Reservation with that little beast. The guys at the check station would get the biggest kick watching me pull up, open the trunk, and drag out a buck. Another nice thing about that car was the sunroof. On cold and nasty days I would sit on a straight road waiting for one to cross. Slid the sunroof open and it was like I was manning a turret on a humve.

I've hunted out of an 88 Chevy Beretta. I was high cotton the next year when I got an 85 4x4 Chevy Blazer, with the fenders cut out, that was nicknamed "Contact". It was sitting on 31" Buckshot mudders and would go anywhere, but it had an exhaust manifold leak and sounded like an old prop plane sputtering as it was cranked. Hence the nickname "contact", given to it by my brother-in-law.

Well - I know this will get some Walker County comments.

Back home (Walker County of course), we would give deer away all the time to a couple guys who needed the meat more than we did. I'll never forget one of our guys pulling up in his full sized family van, not a mini van. The van was pretty full, but I figured they would slide it in the very back. Well, they just wedged the deer between the full size spare attached to the back doors and up against the back glass. Just saddled it right in there with feet hanging on each side of the spare and took off. I could tell that had been done before!

When I was a kid, me & my Dad got invited to come run dogs at a club around Butler. That club owned a fleet of "camp cars." It was a bunch of regular VW Beetles with the front hood (trunk?) taken off, rear fenders cut off, and Buckshots on the back. I begged to go back just to ride in the buggies.

1963 Volkswagen beetle- got it when I was 16. Had oversized mud grips on back, regular tires on front. Went just about anywhere I wanted- easy to load a deer in the front. Couldn't afford a truck, and at the time it did the job.

My buddies and I have hauled more deer just like that on my old 1984 Bronco than in it.

Had a friend of mine in the eighties that hunted out of a 72 Buick lesabre. His uncle had junked it and said he could have it just to get it out the yard. Most of the damage was in passenger side rear end. Trunk wouldn't close and the back window was busted so the back interior was a mess after settling exposed to the weather for years.

So he took the trunk off and tore out the rear seat and plywooded right behind the front seat. It had a big block V8 with a 400 engine in it if I remember right. He ran some co op grip spur mud grips on the back and that dang thing would flat go threw some mud. It hauled a many of deer out of the woods until it ended up in the river one day from a long night and a wrong turn on a washed out dirt road. We called it the letruckcarsabre.

My cousin took an old pinto, cut the top/back just behind the front seats. Made a plywood back with plexiglas window, and built a dog box on the remaining portion. He then took a boat seat pedestal and mounted to the top of the dog box, and would sit up there during the dig drives. Oh and also had a 102" stainless steel whip antenna on there as well.

77 Plymouth Volare station wagon complete with faux wood panels.

I took that thing places I shouldn't have and never got it stuck. Hauled all kinds of dead things in the back.

Had a Chartreuse VW Beetle once, threw a spike in the back seat. I remeber I had a full cast on my right arm at the time.
Wild times back then.

My Grand father regularly used a Ford Grand Torino. Thinking back, that thing would go anywhere. Never got stuck.
