I shoot every doe I see with yearlings since technically a year-ling is last year's fawn. However, if the fawns are fully spotted I usually give the mother a pass now. trust me, I've shot plenty of does with a bow and had to run the fawns off to get her loaded up. But, I've noticed the past few years that some of our yearlings appear to be 50-80 lbs. I know birth dates are in play in Perry County, but, I'm also assuming good nutrition (and the mother knows where to find the best nutrition) comes into play to. Even one step further, I try to shoot the Beta doe and not the Alpha doe. Flip side is that you really end up with some cautious deer with Alpha's leading the way.

Don't give up, don't ever give up!
