Been a long road to rake an animal like this.

Patience, patience, and more patience.

So, it has been along year. Selling house and buying hit on 11/18 so I missed the first rut in Tn. I called the wife wednesday and said I was thinking of taking of Thursday and Friday and hunting sat too. She knows it has been rough and was very accomodating.

So, I get to the new club, with no stand check in and have someone in the samemhollow, less than 400 yds away shoot 3 tines right after daylight. Since that has already happened 3-4 tunes to me since muzzleloader, I almost came home.

I had noticed that I haven't heard any shots coming from the middle of the property which consist of 2 very very very deep and steep hollows that were cut last year and planted with pines. I decided to spend my remainder there.

After shooting a 2.5 yr old on a split second decision Thursday at lunch on the way to stand, I knew I had to be picky.

A few encounters later brings us to this morning. I had decided since it was the perverbial last hunt, I would go to a spot I was saving for a e/see wind that I had not pressured or hunted. It is a small hollow with no trees bug enough room climb. Out comes the millenia tree seat. Got in at 445am and took a little nap waiting on daylight. When the sun got up, I found myself sitting on the edge of a 70 yd wide hollow surrounded by 4' tall cutover. I heard something moving around at the head of the hollow but washed it as squirrels. I thought, I'm going to take this branch and rub it on the tree next to me to see if I can make something happen. Within 5 seconds I heard a deer running at me. He stopped and was stomping at me, then blew twice. I blew back and it was on, here he came. The brute stepped out at 40 yds, but I never saw his rack, just his body. After 1 shot, he ran across the hole and stopped. I put one more in th base of his neck and done.

God blessed me today. Got to give him the props.
