I'm pretty sure he was just old. He was slick. He was back in some palmettos where we usually here them at dark. He howled about 4:30 four times. I got out of my stand and went to where they usually come through when they leave the palmettos. About 20 mins later I see him coming. I made a somewhat bleat with my mouth to get him to stop and he didn't even look my way and bolted the other direction. I though dang that joker is slick. I stayed till I couldn't see anymore and started walking out. When I got to a field that I had to cross, I saw him in the grass. Pulled up the muzzleloader and popped him. It was day before rifle season so I needed to unload the muzzleloader anyway. What better way to do it than unload into a fawn killer.
