Invest in you a Garmin Alpha tracking unit and after a few days of leash training with the shock collar, you will never have to worry about your dogs getting off your property!! It's expensive, but well worth it to keep the peace and be able to continue dog hunting.

As opposed to having dogs run deer past you? Let people hunt how they want.

Hunting is hunting, even though people's opinions vary and styles of hunting vary, to each his own, owning a tracking system and a shock collar would be a good approach in keeping yours dogs on your property and off others. I had a friend who I used to rabbit hunt with and shock collars were his friend, if the dogs jumped a deer, which usually never happened they got the shock treatment.

Stony's bunch is part of the solution. The training don't start opening day of deer season. I have a 4ac fenced pasture and a 100 foot rope and 6 shock collars. New dogs get it about every day for 3 weeks and young pups grow up with it. Every time I turn a dog loose in the woods it's wearing a garmin and a shock collar.

I think most of the people commenting on this haven't ever dog hunted or been around dog hunting. I try to go on a couple of dog hunts every year with friends and if they catch you shooting a dog, chances are you'll wind up in the gut pile. The dogs can't read a sign and there's no way to stop one that's on a hot trail other than killing the deer or catching the dog. A dog chasing a deer is not an uncommon occurrence. They get chased year round by coyotes, a dog trailing a deer through your property is no reason to shoot. Hate to hear about your dog!

Bull You can stop a dog in his tracks. Several here that dog hunt do it every time they hunt. And the dang dog should not have to read, it's owners had better handlebthat part.

There is absolutely a way to stop them. I doubt very few folks on here have heard a dog bark more than I have. I have owned up to 64 at one time in different age groups. I hunted 3 nights a week just to be able to run them all. Them days are over and I'm tired of lazy dog hunters making it harder on folks like me that try to do it the right way. The ole dogs can't read is pure bull. It's not up to the dogs to stop. It starts with the hunter to make them stop. They WILL stop. It can be done and it is being done.

No offense friend, but I dont think their green fields run over onto your land causing you a problem.

Or their corn for that matter.

With that new feeding law Im pretty sure theirs corn all over alabama right now.

And if the pallets I see flying out of Walmarts and the corn bags blowing down the dang road are any indicator..
. Id lay 100 bucks Im right.

But their ways of hunting arent running all over YOUR land ruining the way YOU hunt...But yours ARE ruining theirs.

You need to look at this objectively!

Dont get me wrong..heck..I cant shoot mongrels.

I had two big german shepards on all my cameras and Ill be danged if they didnt run by me twice the same night! No collars..but pretty dogs.

To be honest..I thought it was a yote at first, but seeing the second and how dark they were I didnt smoke the lead one in the thicket..JUST because I had got their pictures.

I see then at a fenced yard down the road now..I guess they got loose.

But if I hadnt I couldve thought that first one was a yote easy.

Just saying, that if you can keep them on your property...all the power to you. But try to understand the other side as well.

DW (DanielWhite) from here really seems to try to keep his dogs from crossing lines. Id PM him if I were you. Hes a helpful guy from everything Ive ever seen.

Hunters that would murder a human over a dog. I think I would find a different group to hunt with.

I always give a dog one free pass and that's it. If I catch them on me again I am not so understanding. I care for my personal dogs so I see that they are kept on my property and not off in other people's trash or tearing up someone else's property. Dogs don't know better but the owners should.

Use to have an old man that would turn his beagles out every Friday and let them run all stinkin weekend on us. He could sit at his house and listen to them run the hell out of our deer. We asked a couple of times for him to put them up and he would not. One of the members shot all six one morning with a 300 Weatherby while they were running a buck through the cutover. What a mess.

Yep. Attitudes like this will do it in. The thing is that dumbasses that think a human life is worth taking over an animal is a scary thought.
