I have zero interest in shooting a deer that is being chased by dogs. I did it when I was a kid but then I grew up wink

I'd rather a grown man quit whining about dogs and know enough about hunting not to worry about a dog. I honestly believe that if a "hunter" is griping about a dog then he just isn't very much of a hunter!!!! Also, shooting a dog with a collar on should be prosecuted to the full extent of law unless a person is genuinely threatened by the dog.

What if the dog is habitually getting into my trash, digging up my yard, pissing on my tires, harassing my livestock, or causing other mischief? Am I still supposed to let it go because the dog is wearing a collar and his owner is a nutless bastard who won't do anything about it?

I am not in favor of shooting somebodies dog, but it also aint my job to keep their animal off my land either.

Maybe if dog hunters knew a little more about real hunting, they wouldn't need to use a pack of dogs to find a deer to shoot.

You don't get it. Some (or should I say most) hunters don't want to pay whatever they have to pay to get in a club and then have a dog from the neighboring club run across their stand at 4:30. I really don't see how people can't understand this.

that's where you lost. It ain't about the kill. When I want just to go kill a deer I still hunt . It's about the dogs , the race, picking at your buddy for getting outrun or getting picked at for the samething. We kill plenty of bucks as a group but it's not just about killing deer.

take your kids hunting and you won't be hunting your kids

BC nope Im a still hunting landowner and one of those biologist dudes. I have neighbor dogs on my property all the time. I have watched MANY MANY times deer feeding 70 yards away from dogs. I have watched deer being run by a dog as other deer just bed down for a moment till the dog passes and then get back up 30 seconds later after a dog passes and start feeding again.

Copy..... good to know.

That's not the point though. Those hunters don't want them there for any reason whatsoever. They don't care if it runs a booner by them every single time. They don't care if the deer doesn't pay them attention...... they just simply don't want them there. I saw a 6 point come into a field last year two minutes after 6 house dogs came across the field making all kind of racket.

FWIW.... I've killed bucks being pushed by dogs across my property in Chambers Co. I've killed bucks backtrailing dogs that ran a doe by me 15 minutes earlier. Despite that if I was sitting in a nice hardwood bottom relaxed and just enjoying Gods creation I don't want dogs running by me. I don't care how many deer they are pushing.

Why should I be put in a position to have to whine about someone else's dog? If I wanted to dog hunt I would take my dog or join a dog club. If a dog with a collar is trespassing and I take the time to catch it I think I should be able to file trespassing charges against the owner. I have caught a pile of dogs and returned them to their owners. 1 time the owner thanked me the other times they just looked at me like I was dumb. I just don't get having an attitude when someone catches your dog's and wastes opening afternoon driving all over the county trying to bring them back to you.

??? I'm virtually certain no bow hunter ever interfered in any way with any of your hunts unless he was poaching on your land. Regarding "preferential treatment for one group" no one is excluding you from the group. If it chaps your ass that bad that bow hunters start in Oct., then I suggest you go get a bow and join us. That's exactly why I bought a bow to begin with, I realized I could hunt for roughly 5 or so more weeks if I did so. And oh yeah, want to hunt the WMA? It's open to all, just pay the $18 or whatever it is and knock yourself out.

What does anything you said have to do with dog hunters allowing their dogs to trespass?

Well, as a matter of fact, I buy a WMA license EVERY year. And, I have killed a truckload of deer with a bow. Big deal....

BUT, I did not expect the State to provide me with my own personal archery Club.

If they are gonna cater to one group almost exclusively, that is their business. But, don't expect the rest of us to pay for it.

And, fwiw, I was offering up an alternative solution that would be legal. Unlike the Aldeer approved SSS.......

Not approved by me..... The next one I shoot will be the first one.

I would kick a man out of any club I was running for shooting another mans hunting dog. There are better solutions.

I'm sorry I've posted so much in this thread. I have been on both sides of the fence and I firmly support a mans right to dog deer hunt, and I fully support a man who doesn't want them on his lease.

I've had trouble with outlaw doggers on a few leases I've been involved with and I guess that's why I feel so strongly about it.

Sorry to interject...but I will enlighten you.

You state that this DEER ran SEVEN MILES From your club and a still hunter shot it on his club..7 miles away???

Really? You see no problem with any of that!

How many other clubs and peoples property did your dogs run through from YOUR club to there? Wow...you think you have a right for your dogs to go all that way through others lands?

Dude...sounds like a really selfish, immature, entitled way of looking at things. Wow!
