As a dog Hunter myself I despise hunters like that. A dog runs 7 miles and nobody can control it? How many property's did you trespass on? I don't and can't blame people for being pissed. Y'all are hunting dogs not deer and that's a damn shame.
take your kids hunting and you won't be hunting your kids

I know of a few guys that were still hunters that got lucky cause the neighboring club ran dogs. The dog club ran the deer right by the still hunters. I seen a nice 12 pt killed off our land one time that ran a little over 7 miles from our club land and a still hunter shot it. I think that hunter was tickled to death. Maybe those that want to shoot dogs that run big deer by them should just let those big bucks run right on by them as well!! You just don't get it do you? No...... he's lost. No I guess I don't, why don't you 2 enlighten me?? Sorry to interject...but I will enlighten you. You state that this DEER ran SEVEN MILES From your club and a still hunter shot it on his club..7 miles away??? Really? You see no problem with any of that! How many other clubs and peoples property did your dogs run through from YOUR club to there? Wow...you think you have a right for your dogs to go all that way through others lands? Dude...sounds like a really selfish, immature, entitled way of looking at things. Wow! lol...... probably crossed what, at least 4 hunting clubs along the way? You my friend, are part of the problem. Man do I agree there BC! 7 dang miles through how many folks land. But its all ok? I guess those other clubs and landowner lost out cause they didnt get to shoot it. This guy seems to have no respect to others property, nor about their style of hunting. He only thinks about himself. Unbelievable. A lot of guys on here that dog hunt seem to be serious about crossing lines and keeping their dogs from doing it. This guy just doesnt care.

I also know several Clubs that you can run 7 miles on and never get off their property.
Too many assumptions by all sides.
And, for the record, I think that BOTH sides have valid points. I agree that some dog deer hunters make it hard on themselves, other Clubs and ALL other dog hunters! And, hyco is absolutely correct. The technology is readily available that allows you to track your dogs in real-time by GPS at all times and correct/stop him at any time you want to. If you do not care enough to use it, you are part of the problem. Spot on hogwild.

wait, I'm just trying to catch up. Does this guy think that no one else should be able to shoot that deer because it originated on his property? No.... someone shot his dog. He doesn't have any problem with his dog going on somebody else's property, only that the dog was shot. We are just having our yearly debate where we tell the dog hunters we don't want their dogs on our leases and they list out reasons why it's cool for them to be there and threaten to kill us if we harm them. Kidding about that last part lol..... but there does seem to be two different train of thoughts regarding the situation.

He's right, I did make an assumption regarding the 4 hunting club post. I guess the "off our land" part of his post is what I was focusing on.

Secondly this 160" 12 point was using on our 2000 acre club moving only at night. This club was so thick we barely had any still hunting places at all. The only option we pretty much had was to dog hunt here!! To me if we were selfish we would have still hunted this place hoping that we eventually killed this and the other big bucks that were killed by hopefully crossing one of our roads. But rather our club decided to bring these dog hunting guys in over Christmas break and get the deer moving!! We were extremely happy that the guy 7 miles away killed that big buck, just as happy as he was. Without those dogs that deer would more than likely died of old age. So no I don't see how we were Selfish. The neighboring clubs around us, in which we had talked to them about bringing the dogs down were all happy that the dogs got the deer moving! There were several nice bucks killed during that Christmas vacation that in my opinion would have died of old age or spotlighters may have gotten at night. I love seeing deer taken by hunters rather than seeing them found dead in the woods by disease or old age. I guess I am really selfish and immature! Anyone that knows me can attest that statement isn't true!! Lol congrats on your big buck by the way!!

That is the problem dude. It doesn't matter if it's 5 feet over your line or 7 miles, you are in the wrong. To sit here and argue why you are dog hunting is asinine.... nobody cares why you are dog hunting. Do you understand? If you had killed the monster 12 point within your boundaries we would all slap you on the back and tell you good job.

Just look at the deer hunting regulation map to see how irresponsible dog hunters made a mess of things for the responsible folks. Some counties are chopped into all kinds of weird sections where you need a permit or not or its just flat out banned. Hogwild is correct, running dogs can be done responsibly with the current technology. Also, if you can afford an ATV then you can also afford the right kind of dog collar.

BC he didnt say they would kill them for messing with his dogs, just that they would wind up in the gut pile. LOL.
Being apart of dogging is a great thing, the sad part is, one day this sport will be outlawed. And it'll be because of the doggmen themselves. If they truley cared for the sport like they said they did. They would do whatever it took to insure its survival. To the OP, I'm am a dog lover as much as anyone on here, but sounds like to me, your neighbor gave you several warnings, which is more than alot of folks might. You need to ask Santa for a garmin Alpha, this will save you and your neighbors alot of heart and head aches.

With that said I still cant understand any hunter WHINING about dogs. Coyotes hunt 24 / 7.
Interesting logic you have there.....would you rather the whining or them treating the dogs like coyotes and shooting everyone they see. I'd rather a grown man quit whining about dogs and know enough about hunting not to worry about a dog. I honestly believe that if a "hunter" is griping about a dog then he just isn't very much of a hunter!!!! Also, shooting a dog with a collar on should be prosecuted to the full extent of law unless a person is genuinely threatened by the dog. If a hunter will not shoot a deer that is being chased by a pack of dogs because he does not consider that hunting and a pack of dogs in continually running all over his property. That does not make him not a hunter for venting about his right to hunt in the style he prefers. It makes him a victim of some inconsiderate slob hunters that do not know how to dog hunt.......notice I said "continually" If it just happens once or twice a season then yes it should be just chalked up as crap happens sometimes. Again your coyote logic was a plain bad example since most hunters that complain about them shoot everyone they see. I don't have a problem with the prosecuting part, If it is against the law then it is against the law. Anyways I always like to handle that stuff face to face with those internet bad ass dog hunters myself

When I want just to go kill a deer I still hunt . It's about the dogs , the race, picking at your buddy for getting outrun or getting picked at for the samething. We kill plenty of bucks as a group but it's not just about killing deer. Now that's just funny....It ain't about the kill lol. Well alright why don't yall just leave the guns at home then....
