I'm not trying to resurrect the oldest debate on aldeer, but I am curious to understand what the core-lokt naysayers expect out of the performance of a projectile. I have recovered a few core-lokts before, after hitting the CNS, or having a long trajectory through the entire length of a deer before. I finally decided to measure, and weigh one. I recovered a 150 grain in 30-06, that traveled from just in front of the back right hip, through the intestines, liver, lungs, and heart of a big doe, busted the offside shoulder, and was lodged just under the skin. The diameter had increased 2.86X the original diameter, to exactly 20 mm. The jacket expanded, exposing the lead core, which left a perfect mushroom. The weight of the projectile was 92.58 grains, or 62% of its original weight. This is fairly representative of what I see from the majority of them.
So how did this projectile, which cost less than $1/round, and shoots a sub MOA group perform inferior to a Barnes, Hornady, or some other fancy smancy round that cost $73/box?

They didn't go off when I pulled the trigger I've heard that before. If I ever have one misfire I might change my thinking on them, but out of the hundreds (literally) I've fired out of 5 rifles and three different calibers I've never had that happen one time.

You know I made a very bold statement before deer season began, that there was absolutely NO SUCH THING AS A DEER CURSE. Now the turkey voodoo, that stuff is real. I have never had a problem with a deer curse though, UNTIL I SAID THERE WAS NOT ONE. I have not been able to capitalize on opportunity since that statement was made, and I've had one buck I have been trying to kill for several years just totally rub it in my face twice this year. All I need is a misfire.

I buy Core-looks every year when the big chain stores put them on special. I got some that are at least 15 years old. They always go bang.
I wonder if you put that shell in another gun, if it would fire? Don't know if that would be dangerous or not, but my Red Neck ways tell me to try it. At least we could rule out a weak firing pin.

I personally do not shoot them, however, when I did shoot them I never had any issues.
If the shell misfires, that would not have anything to do with the actual performance of the bullet. In the case of a misfire, I would prolly have issues with all of that companies components that go into the shell.

I haven't had a problem in 30+ years with them. The deadliest mushroom in the woods.

I had several misfire in a 30-30 round. Broke me fast from shooting them.

B this is what I was going to say....my brother had a gun that the firing pin spring wore out and it wouldn't fire after sitting until you draw fired it....then it would fire like normal
