Matt Brock has it nailed IMHO. Deer were stocked from a number of states and the deer had their ruts in their genetic makeup. Now we have a combination of all those bloodlines and it sets the broad rut across the state. I know there were Michigan deer stocked in Barbour County in the early 60's and the Clark County deer were stocked in north Pike County about the same time as well as several other sources. The moon, photo period, temperature and other stuff has little to do with it, it's genetics.
