Ya'll can screw with Matt, but in time you will learn. Matt Brock is a deer killing machine. Take it or leave it.

Shot placement? Duh...the deer's dead is all I need to know.
Congrats on a great deer Matt!

GSDowner, I made a shot I was comfortable with. I've killed hundreds of deer. I don't need to talk shot placement. I hit the deer about 2" from where I was aiming at 200 yards. Only problem was it was 2" low and 2" left. I made more effort to get this deer than most ever make, and due to persistence and help from Mike the deer was recovered. What else is expected? Congrats on the number of deer you have killed, but bottom line is you made a poor shot and by your own admittance, the only reason you found this deer was because of the dog. What would have happened if Idahomike was busy on another track or just to darn tired to come help? Odds are the deer would not have been recovered. Shooting a deer in the ass or top back spine at 200 yards is not a good idea, sure you will kill a few, but others will limp off to die and never be found. I understand that you are an experienced hunter, but I can not for the life of me understand you defending such a shot on a forum where many look up to you because of your job and position. Just think of all the deer that will be shot in the ass and lost because of you. And don't even get me started on this was not the deer you thought it was, because that is a whole 'nother story and mistake on your part.

There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

Just because it wasn't the deer I thought it was doesn't mean I regret pulling the trigger. Whether or not you agree with my choice to pull the trigger is totally irrelevant to me, and means nothing more than a big pile of stinking horse manure. I don't hunt to win anybody's approval over the decisions I make. I stand behind my decision. You can stand behind yours. But you won't hear anything out of me when you do something I don't agree with. People like you are precisely the reason I usually keep my hunting stories to a select few folks. You make your decisions. Let others make theirs. I'm sure you have never bird hunted before, because you know, all those tiny shot are not guaranteed to hit a vital. You're basically just slinging little metal balls in the air hoping something connects. That's not very ethical is it?

No, you didn't make a mistake, you made several. This is the last you will read from me on this subject, you just keep on patting yourself on the back and taking the praise from your audience. I can't believe you're still here.

I think downer is an idiot and an asshole. However, I still will never try that shot. I don't care how experienced I am, ill be more patient and lucky than skilled enough to kill a deer by an ass shot. Not saying ya can't do it cause someone obviously can, I'd rather not try it. Either way, congrats on the buck and may many more come!

It wouldn't bother me a bit if it was the last we read of anything from you on this site. It's folks like you that has made this place not as cool of a place as it once was. I, too, am surprised you are still here. We certainly could do without your antagonistic nature in this place. It seems like you thrive on starting some kind of crap in every post you make. I just hope that in due time you'll be taken care of properly.

There are many of us on here that may not post much, but we enjoy your (and some others) intelligent input. As far as the shot goes, there's nothing to defend. A ham shot with a rifle or bow (even if it don't hit bone) will generally result in a dead deer within 100 yds and a blood trail Ray Charles could follow. Folks that can't grasp that just need more experience shooting deer. This shot probably could't be duplicated in 1,000 try's that would result in a deer traveling that far.
