I bought the above scope back in the day and put it on a 22 magnum. It worked great while I had it mounted. After I hadn't shot the 22 mag in about 15 years, I decided to keep the scope and sell the rifle. It's been sitting in the safe since then.

Do you think that scope could handle the recoil on a 12 ga shotgun shooting slugs? Is there any reason a 50mm won't work on a slug gun? I know nothing about shooting slugs so.....

Anything Simmons against a 12 gauge slug? Probably not. And I killed a few deer with a Simmons, just not what I'd advise for your application.

The older Simmons were better than the new ones.

The only Simmons scope I ever had ANY trouble at all with was a Simmons Blazer, about 8 or 10 years back. That thing wouldn't hold a zero for anything...finally gave it away, although why Dion wanted it I'll ever know. The only condition I put on the transaction was that he never bring it back to me! We have 2 other Simmons scopes, one on a .308 and one on a .50 ML, and they're both DOBA!

Thanks for the input guys. He's actually asking for me. I don't have quite the money for a rifle, but have an opportunity to get a good deal on a rifled slug barrel for my shotgun. I want some more range on the gun to get some deer, and Fur had a scope available.
