Every mature buck in AL will not weigh 200 lb in fact most will not weigh 200lb especially depending on what part of season it is killed in. I would guess after the rut it would be extremely rare to kill one that goes over 200lb. At least in the part of the state where I hunt.
If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

I've killed many in central Alabama. Hunting around soybeans, peanuts, and the blackbelt helps. The largest body I ever killed WEIGHED on certified scales was 205lbs. AFTER field dressed. People don't realize deer bodies are like humans. Some tall, some short. Some longer from nose to tail. Some thicker from bottom of chest to top of back. Wider across the back. You have to get a long, tall, thick, and wide deer to get an exceptional body weight. 3 out 4 will still get you a BIG deer. On the really noticeable trait to me on the exceptional body deer is the nose to tail length...or it appears that way to me.

This is our groups 7th season in Alabama. 3 seasons in Butler co. and 4 seasons in Monroe co. We have killed a good many good bucks and only had 2 go over 200#. Both were in Butler co. One was an old buck that had a big 5pt antler on one side and just a stob on the other. 206# on hoof. The other I killed and was a 5 yr old 9pt that weighed 212. We had a couple bucks just barely break the 180 mark here in Monroe co. Most average about 165#.

I've killed several bucks over 200 lbs. We have weighed every buck we have killed since 1998 on our place, and our average weight on 4+ yr old bucks is 187 lbs. Most will weigh between 180 and 210. This year the three that have been killed were 241, 206, and 154. The 154 was a 4 or 5 yr old. He was just short. Very small mature buck. 200 lb mature bucks are not that uncommon anymore.
I've killed a 215, 212, 212, 210, 208, 206, 204, and 200 looking back through data. And quite a few more hovering just under that in the 190-198 range. All the deer that weighed that much were long and thick framed.

I have killed 5 that I know for sure were over 200 lbs. I killed an 8 pt that was 215 and a 9 pt that was 211 with my bow in the same season. Also killed a 210 lb 3 pt with my bow. My second deer ever was a 206 lb 9 pt I killed on a dog drive when I was about 10 years old. I killed an 8pt with my slug gun that was 201lbs.I dont know how much my Illinois buck weighed but he was bigger than anyrhing Ive killed in bama. Ive killed a bunch that looked like they were 200lbs but they were short bodied deer. It takes a long thick deer to break the 200lb mark. The biggest Ive seen was a 9pt that was 260 lbs. We loaded it in my rhino and my hands were bleeding from where the burrs on his bases cut into my hands.

I hunt on a military base, and most of the 4-6 year old deer we kill will field dress 120# to 140#. Don't know what that equates to in "live weight". Seriously, we'll kill deer with 140" racks, big Roman noses and gray muzzles, globs of fat inside the cavity, and yet they'll only weigh 130lbs field dressed. I killed one on this place two years ago that field dressed 170, and that's about the biggest one I've ever seen. I killed another one on a neighboring property (nothing but a fence separates this land from the military land) in the early 90's that was 177lbs dressed on digital scales.
Killed two on Cheaha Mountain in the early 90's that were 200lbs field dressed, but that was on old spring-type scales.
Crap, I killed a 4.5 year old 8pt on Choccolocco WMA a few years ago that only weighed 98lbs dressed. True story. Their biologist weighed him, and there were several witnesses.
