Most that are not weighed are over estimated, just like big fish. The only way to estimate accurately is if you have actually seen a lot that were actually weighed.

I cleaned a spike this year for my dad that he ran over. That deer weighed in my estimate nearly 150 lbs. I heard my dad tell a co-worker that it was a huge spike that weighed 200 lbs. It was a big spike with 10" long heavy spikes but he weighed closer to 140 than 200.

I haven't weighed all of my deer but I don't suspect I have ever killed one over 200 pounds. I have seen others but not my own.

200 pound deer in South Alabama are not as rare as the black panther but maybe as much as the black bear. I have reviewed thousands of annual deer harvest reports from hunting clubs and I'd guess that 5-10% of hunting clubs record a 200# deer a year. This is from HWY 10 south. I can't speak too wisely north of there.

I agree, most people don't weigh deer and aren't worth a damn at guessing a deer's weight. We've weighed every deer that has been killed on our club, since 1997. I belive there has been 6 bucks killed that weighed 200 lbs, the heaviest being 202. According to state studies, and maybe Matt can post the chart, 4.5 year olds weigh on average of 175lbs live weight. In heavy ag area's, or where there's a lot of supplemental feeding, sure the deer can be above average.

The ten pointer I killed on 1/1/2015 weighed 235lb live weight. Weighed twice on two different scales with several people watching along. My biggest bodied buck to date. I, like ChrisAU, got around close to 100 pounds of meat. I ate on that deer for a while

I have two this year that were all over 200. I killed one several years ago from Sam R Murphey during peak/post rut that the biologist weighed at 197.

What are theses deer eating with NOTHING but pine trees and clearcuts? #sarcasm!

There's a better chance of killing a 200 lb deer in AL than a 130" deer, pretty much regardless of where you hunt IMO.

I have only put 1 buck on scales and he was 210. The two biggest bodied deer I've killed I didn't get to weight them. One was like a freaking elk, only regret about that deer was not getting to weigh him. Seriously, I bet he weighed 240

My son killed a 245lb 9 point back in 2009 in Montgomery county, the clubs I have been in over the last 10 years, weighs ALL deer including does. I have seen on average 2-5 deer a year break the 200 lb mark.

I have killed two that were weighed at 219# and 221#, both in Barbour County. Biggest I have ever seen on the scales was 310# in Saco around 1969.

In the early years on the Talladega National Forest. I killed an eight point on 2 DEC 79. One of the biggest I've killed, I couln't move him more than 5 steps without stopping to rest. Hid him and rounded up my kinfolk. No documentation, is it still
required. He was after a doe, that looked like a fawn ahead of him.

Went to Korea in January 80. My younger brother (6 years) Killed one in 80, on a different spot, I hunted. Bigger than my 79 8 by a lot. Big and heavy, both brothers say. On 22 NOV, 2001 I doubled up with my younger brother (2 year). I killed a 145 lb dressed weight 10 point. From the same tree, I had killed a spike (18 NOV 2001) while hunting the 10's scrape line. I knew that spike didn't leave that sign. We (kin) dragged him out. My plan was for all of to hunt my 10. He snuck up to another one of the kin spots. I said were is Chalie. They said Horseblock. He came driving up, I was sitting there with my 10. He said, nice but, l got him beat. I said, Ain't no way, are you serious. He said check him out. I said, "what the hell". He said, "You wanna trade". Heck yea I'll give you my 10 and a spike to boot. His deer weighed 183 lbs dressed. Beautiful 11 point. Piss on QDMA.

I killed my 1st 200lb + buck on Jan 16, 1979. Only a couple of years after the Season was extended past Jan 15th if I remember right? He was a massive 8pt that hung on my wall until my house burned several years back. I lost him and all my old hunting pics in that dang fire.....all I have is memories and some pics of the mount.
I have killed one about every 3 yrs on average since then.

I've killed a 215, 212, 212, 210, 208, 206, 204, and 200 looking back through data. And quite a few more hovering just under that in the 190-198 range. All the deer that weighed that much were long and thick framed.

You, got way big numbers, I'll excuse you from better memories.
How do your spots compared to Black Warrior/Bankhead?

I have hunted in Pike Co. and Crenshaw Co. my entire life. From my land I have records of the following mature bucks.

235# 8pt (138")
210# 10pt
205# 7pt
175# 12 pt (155") Jan 27th
185# 13 pt (159") Jan 29th
210# 10 pt
190# 9pt

I know of about 4 more bucks killed, but I didn't weigh them. From 2006 - 2011 I weighed every deer killed and since 2004 we have only killed 5 bucks that were less than 4 years old.

I have killed does up to 155#, with 125-130# not that uncommon. But I haven't killed a doe on my place in the past 4 years.

You talking 200 ibs field dressed or live weigh? When talking weight in hill country it's usually field dressed. We have to gut them to lighten the load. Lots deer killed up here you can't drive a utv or anything else to .

My biggest was 187 lbs field dressed. A couple in the 170s. And a whole bunch field rested in the 160s. All weighed on scales.

We get one every now and then up here over 200 fd.
