I don't know Mike nor have I ever met him. I will say this, I think he is a man of character and integrity just by the posts I read on here by him.
I have never read anything on Aldeer that he has said negative about another tracker or their dog.
I'm going to remember that when the day comes that I have to call for a dog.
It will greatly influence who I will call.

He doesn't need to come on here and defend himself to anyone. He's busy working. I can say he seems like a very honest hard working man of integrity, with a good name. His dog is incredible. I mean incredible.

Just to add to the money comment cnc made, I understand that money exchanges hands, but he's not getting rich off of his hobby when he's living in hotels, eating out every meal, and driving 4 hours one way for a track. He ran a track for me this weekend and I handed the money to his wife since she was chauffeuring him around the state, and he told her to give me half of it back because it was too much. I refused to take any back because I enjoyed watching Lucy work as much as actually recovering my deer. I've seen Lucy run 5 tracks the last 2 years, and Mike has been nothing short of professional and Lucy has performed like a pro herself. We don't have many options for experienced trackers up north, so we greatly appreciate Mike's willingness and ability to travel at will. Very well said and spot on.

Choose whomever you like when the time comes Cuz……but I’m not going to sit here and keep listening to folks carry on about how some are just tracking for free out of the goodness of their hearts while the rest of us charge money. That ain’t how it works. All I did was tell the truth about “free” cause I’m tired of hearing it every time something gets brought up. Carry on.

So how much money you think Mike makes in a tracking season? Sounds like you know

No idea man. I’m not really mad at anyone for putting money in their pocket. The problem is when an illusion is presented that hurts folks who are just trying to run a normal charge and pay system. The honest reason I choose to go that way is because I hate negotiating over money and I don’t want every track I ever do to end in a negotiation that starts out “So how much do I owe you man?” . To me it puts both parties in somewhat of an awkward position.

"Mike and lucy lopez let us track your deer 24/7 we track for donations or free No mandatory fee"
This is what Mike has as his signature line. What about this is an illusion? I can't understand why you other trackers don't see that your comments are only making yourself look bad.

Hey CNC,
Heres a thought and its worth about as much as Mikes track fee.
Why not as a tracker starting out just sit back be willing to learn from a tracker with many years experience. Sure you charge money so what. Mike doesnt charge money so what. Instead of learning from Mike, its obvious he knows what he's doing, you seem to be bucking and kicking without a cowboy. I know this, Mike is good people.
The other trackers that are putting people on hold all day will dig their own, every call I have gotten about a track I either went to or got them in touch with someone else, or they decided the deer was not hurt bad enough. Heck like Ive said before I have given Mikes number out many times when I couldnt or wouldnt make it. I have given out other trackers numbers as well. I think thats the way it should be.
Sure I like finding the deer with my dog, but I also like seeing the deer found with any dog period. Sure Ive gotten money from tracks and probably will in the future, but to sit here and bash someone whether you say you are or not is just childish.
In the free market economy we have in America, if your product doesnt sell you either need to lower the price, beat the competitor by using a superior product, or have a reputation that supersedes all of that that way you can ask what you want and it doesnt matter.
Its just giving the tracking dog guys a bad wrap the way you and others are whining. We arent all like that guys.
It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.
