With all of the QDM, antler restrictions, passing on smaller bucks, and every other attempt to grow bigger deer there should be more bucks that most would consider giants. I know that not every buck is capable of becoming a monster buck but if QDM really works those deer that are capable should have a greater opportunity to make it their. If there are more big bucks available to shoot does that lower the wow factor somewhat? Before people started doing everything in their power to grow big deer it took a very special buck to get that big. Seems kind of like being a millionaire these days. There are not a ton of millionaires but there sure are a lot more than there were 40 or 50 years ago.
Not trying to put down anyone's huge buck or anything because I would be extatic with a 150 class buck. Just wondering if everyone's standards have stayed the same or do they go up the more these 150 class bucks are killed?

It is the same to me cause I have never killed one. If I kill one I know exactly what land it would come from and I have only seen one who would have gone over 150 in 20 yrs hunting that land.

A 150 class ain't what it used to be, MUCH easier in Jackson Co. area now. A 150 class buck is not as big a deal as it was just 15-20 years ago around here IMO.

Back when soybeans were king in Macon and Bullock county I've seen guys saw the racks off 160 class deer. It was nothing to see 30 or 40 deer, and lots of nice bucks in an afternoon sit. Of course back then I was hunting with a Remington 742 iron sites. I think it was easier back then.

Still tough as crap for some of us, heck I'd love to get just one on camera!
We are not perfect, only forgiven!!!

I've piled up mature bucks and still yet to kill a 150". I've seen two that I know were 150" + but didn't get to pull the trigger. One was a 156" 9 point. True giant.
I personally think it is harder to do now. More people are high grading in our area, meaning they're killing the very best out of the two and three yr age classes, resulting in fewer high scoring deer. We are growing plenty of mature bucks, but they are not high scoring, because those deer get killed younger. I've seen plenty of deer that had the potential to be 150+ with another year or two, but they didn't make it.

Outdoor man what a feat! Would love to see pics of any of those deer! Where have you killed them? Those are truly giants!
Well..all right then..here are a few..heck..here are some more . I killed them ALL in well...Alabama!
Heck..heres even some video of big bama bucks eating the dirt!

Heres a buck I just killed Dec 13th this year too.
I killed a 130 my 2nd day in alabama on TV to be honest. Loved the hunting and weather so much I moved here!
heres some more..all from Alabama..big 7 point, big 9 point...a big 12 point. All mature deer.
Heck...heres some video even of a deer i waaaayyyy Underestimated..but I tend to do that.
I thought he was in his 120's.
I passed him initially but killed him 6 days later the next time I hunted him. Hes scores right at 150 actually..Though I underestimated him again even with him in my hands.
In the video all three of the deer behind me are from Bama..one from South Carolina ( the one in Velvet).
Please note this bucks SIZE compared to the fawn when he first steps out.
Heck..Ive got MORE too. Let me say...now again..this is my opinion...but if you DONT shoot em young in Bama...they swell on up. Just IMO.
I love Bama huntin..more then anywhere...heck..we LIVE here. Let em grow and youll be shocked..I assure you!

It aint easy..I watch a ton of bucks and only kill them if they reach 4 plus years old.Usually 5 or older. You think it is easy to pass in that buck in that video? Hell..I was doing TV...I was PAID to shoot em!
Trigger restraint goes a LOOONNGG way.
Heck..the 170 14 pt I killed on COAL GROUND! A reclaimed coal mine. I just dont shoot unless they are big. That 150 inch 14 pt too. Same ground in Walker county.

Outdoor! Wow is all I can say! Man those are some great deer! Alabama does have great deer but it takes discipline and some folks don't like to hear it but in my area it takes money! Some folks are fortunate enough to have both I have discipline....the other one......I'm not in the soup kitchen by any means but don't have 4 or 5 grand to spend like some. But hey I'm blessed and not complaining at all. Great deer you had earlier this year I remember seeing him when you posted the story!
