I set 6 traps this morning on some new property. Working all weekend, and I'll set 10 more Monday if I have any catches over the weekend.

Hank this is a new lure a fella sent me to try. I'm gonna have to get some more of it because this makes the 4th coyote I've caught with it in this same trap.

1 lost trap this morning. DP that the critter somehow undid the wire? How far could one go in THICK crap with 3 legs and a dp attached to one leg??
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Dude I have preached on here for y'all not to use wire on these traps. It will not hold a coon!

Dude I have preached on here for y'all not to use wire on these traps. It will not hold a coon! I use snares on mine. Just attach it to my swivel on my dp with a mb crunchproof swivel and then all I have to do is find a tree or fence post and wrap the snare around then run my dp through my snare loop. Ive got a picture of the setup ill post in a bit.

Just curious, what do y'all do with the hides? Some I sell to furbuyers, some I keep, some I sell or give to people for taxidermy, some get tossed with the carcass. We eat quite a bit of raccoon. I make jerky with it and it tastes no different than deer jerky to me. I plan to try to make some coon sausage one day. If you clean it right and season it up, meat is pretty much meat. I like it pan fried like squirrel or rabbit or barbecued but no one else in the house eats it that way so I don't do that often.

We had switched most of our dp's over to cables. This one was unfortunately one we hadnt. Learn from my mistakes.

Nice! I'm so ready to catch my first bobcat! I'm just not sure on where to set for them.
