Don't know why ya'll are getting bent out of shape about this baiting thing. Not a dang bit of difference in sitting on a food plot vs hunting over bait. It's the same dang thing. It's something man made to attract deer.....

No popcorn needed. I can grow a field of corn and hunt it everyday of season leagaly. But if you put it out it is illegal. Come on. Either way it is put there with intent. And if it isn't there will be a harvest and most likely a depredation permit if deer aren't desired there.

Same rationale can be used for shooting a deer over a corn pile and shooting one over a corn pile using a spotlight. It's the same dang thing. It's something man made to kill deer.

LOL BEAD you are right in some cases, but not all. I Plant to make deer healthy, not kill plots. SO Whats your reasoning for planting summer plots ? The does on my lease went from an average of 90 lbs to 140 lbs. Corn does not put weight on a deer, its candy.

It's something man made to attract deer..... To me there IS a difference b/t planting and baiting. You can't move a rye field but you can move a corn pile once you shoot deer out of a field and they get wary of the general area. With baiting you have a mobile food source, unlike a planted field. To me it's more of a fair chase type thing.

As long as it's legal I don't care either way I'm just stating a fact. You say you can move a field but I've never seen anyone just have one field on a tract of land unless it was a small area

Some of the very ones that are against legal baiting will use sex scent lures, calls, rattling, plots, sit in a tree 30' up, high powered rifles and scopes that shoot well over 100 yards, etc. Hell folks, it is a practice that is used in a number of states without any verified real problems. In Texas and Florida with a number of other states it is legal and there is not any mention of diseases in those states. Put a $50 permit sticker with a fee to the state on the feeder, one per 40 acres or so, and mind your own business.

I agree with you on this one. If it isn't an attractant...why have a shooting house in them? It is designed to lure them in...PERIOD. You fellas will perform some incredible semantic gymnastics to argue about this, but Beadlescomb is 101% correct. It is FOOD and ATTRACTANT, period, this literally CANNOT be argued. Listening to y'all try to make a difference between a food plot and a pipe feeder is like watching you play Twister....seriously, you're really stretching. Nothing could be any less relevant than this goofball argument that food plots are "healthy" and corn is "candy". What in the heck does that have to do with the intent of the baiting rule????? NOTHING!! "Corn" ain't the only thing we're talking about here...put protein pellets in your feeder if that helps ease your mind. Or how about this: Put your corn pile in the center of your Tecomate field!

Funny thing is too, I'm not arguing "for" baiting because I do it, or want to do it. I don't even have anywhere I could do it, I hunt a dang military base for Pete's sake! I just get fluffed up somethin' fierce when I hear these goofy justifications against "bait" as it relates to food plots. Alabama's gymnastics team ain't as good as some of those reasons. I love the hyper-righteousness and sportsmanship that some people try to portray....sheesh.

I started thinking about the Alabama Womens Gymnastics team a couple of years ago. What was the subject?
