I would not shoot her. We are protecting three piebalds that have been on the farm a couple years.

I would not shoot her. We are protecting three piebalds that have been on the farm a couple years. What is your purpose for protecting a piebald in your heard? Although they are unique and to me absolutely beautiful, this trait is genetic and causes other problems. Unlike true albinos, piebald deer have brown eyes and black hooves. The piebald condition is frequently associated with other harmful physical conditions, including skeletal deformities, dorsal bowing of the nose, short/deformed legs, curved spine, short lower mandible, and internal organ deformities. Piebald deer are rare, typically occurring at less than one percent of the population.

So you guys who won't shoot a piebald, if this was a mature buck of 4.5 years old or older with the same or worse coloration-coat mutation but also with a gnarly rack you looked at and went "Whew, that's bad." ... you'd let it walk?
yes, I'd let it walk..everytime...period. Even if it had 160 inches of antler on its head.

Nothing is wrong with them? Is that why 90% of all piebald are still born? The reason I asked this is because he goes by and apparently considers himself a WildlifeBiologist

I'd shoot a hairless albino black panther if it had 160 inches of antlers on its head.
Then I could look at it every day.

I think this is another case of to each his own. A lot of hunters have the mentality of "everyone needs to think and hunt like me". If you kill or don't kill that piebald won't matter one lick to the future of deer hunting in this state.

to me personally, an albino or piebald is too beautiful and rare just to kill it, I'd rather look at it. Piebald and albinos are totally different. Piebald is a genetic mutation were other abnormalities also occur. Albinism is a complete lack of pigment with no evidence of abnormal growth occurring although many lack the eyesight of a normal deer. Unlike piebald deer, these deer are normal except for lacking the gene(s) for color. True albinos have pink eyes and white hooves whereas white deer are just that a "white deer" having normal eyes, nose, and hooves. Also Dr B quite a few years back along the big creek to our south we kill 1 buck that didn't have any white whatsoever! His underside looked like a normal brown coat and the rest of the coat was almost black! I'll look through my albums and find the old Polaroid picture.

His underside looked like a normal brown coat and the rest of the coat was almost black! Melanistic "black" deer, similarly uncommon like an albino or piebald.

I'd kill the shucks out of it and make another rug like the one I already have with far less white on it than that one.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Please explain why or why not.. If I'm meat hunting, and she's alone or the largest of the alternatives, then yes I shoot. She won't taste any different with the white spots.
