Instead of highjacking the sharks post, here's some pics of the Dauphin Island Pier as it looks now... Here's the view along the east side... and to west... From the west T looking toward Dauphin Island... From the east T looking toward Dauphin Island... including the sandbar by the beach that has built in with the incoming tides... And the view southward from the end... (Photos courtesy of Pier#r on the Great Days Outdoors forum.)

Would love to take the son there and give him some of the same kind of memories...instead of heckling with the traffic of PC from St Andrews Hope It Wasn\'t Fort Pickens We always have our family reunion in Panama City the weekend after Easter. I remember growing up and going down there every year, and going to the beaches, Miracle Strip Amusement Park, Petticoat Junction, St. Andrews State Park, and to Shell Island. Now there is nothing on the strip but high rises, Miracle Strip has been torn down, and it takes forever to get down the strip due to all the traffic.

Are these pics very recent? I was down there about 3 or 4 weeks ago and there was more sand and less water than that. I might have been there at low tide during a good north wind.
