I have noticed lately I lost nearly all my hearing in my right ear. I'm worried about this upcoming season but I found this from my younger days when I battled ear infections.

This is the only way I'll make it through 2016 season til hopefully I can have permenant hearing aids installed this summer. I attribute it to not wearing plugs shooting early in life and heavy equipment. Please protect your kids ears now!

You are right. Nothing was ever mentioned when I was growing up. Last ENT I went to, asked if I had been in 'Nam. Well no. Just genetics and shooting.
Sometimes I can't tell where a gobbler is until I hear him 3 times.

Mine get worse every year. They've started ringing pretty noticeably over the last couple months. I can still hear turkeys fine, but every year I have a harder time telling where the sound is coming from

The ringing gets so bad I get headaches. Right now it's like my heart is beating in my right ear. My left is fine. I been really struggling with this over a matter of a few weeks.

I hate to hear to that brother. Hope you can get some relief in the short term and then find a long term solution.

Are you left handed? My left ear is bad and I figured it's because it's the one more toward the end of the barrel and I ride on the left side of the fire truck.
Also, can you tell the direction of a turkey or any sound while wearing those style hearing aids?
Hope yours gets better, and I plan on protecting mine from now on, and for sure will make my kids do the same!

I'm right handed and it's my right ear too. Usually I can pinpoint a bird fine gobbling but it's drumming and foot steps in leaves I'm worried about the most. At least I could still pinpoint last year. But it's gone downhill really bad in last few weeks all the sudden.

I'm sorry to hear you gotta deal with this. My high pitch hearing has been gone for years, and overall it gets worse every year. The ringing never lets up.

I get my ears cleaned every year when I go for my yearly checkup which happens to be the first week or so of March. It helps my hearing tremendously for a month or more. May try and let a doc clean them out and see if it'll help some. You'll be amazed at what comes outta there

Between my Army days as an Artilleryman and hundreds of jobs as a concert photographer in the 80's my tinnitus is horrible. So bad I cannot communicate in restaurants or convention areas where a lot of people congregate. It even effects my speech.

The worst part is, I have never heard a gobbler drum. I can hear them gobble, but every bird I hear sounds as though they are a mile away. So many times I've moved to them and they are only 100 yards away. I've learned to adapt, but I sure wish I could hear one drum...

I have severe hearing loss in my left ear it makes it very hard pin pointing a bird gobbling a long way off in the hollows I hunt or a bird that gobbles just once directly in front or behind me. If you see me spining around in the woods don't worry you didn't just walk up on a crazy person I'm just trying to get my good ear point towards the bird so I can locate him smile.

Oddly enough, I can hear drumming over 100 yards away but my high frequency hearing is so damaged from years of abuse that I can't hear certain songbirds (and a lot of other things). I assumed the damage on the high end helped me hear the low end better. But, I'm just making lemonade out of a sackful of lemons. I've been wearing power muffs for about 4 years. They do amp up hearing but directional capability stinks. It's hard to slip them on when ones getting close sometimes but I'm adapting.

Sorry to hear that has happened to you, I had my ears cleaned a couple of years ago and considering all the crud the Dr. removed from them, it was a wonder I could hear at all.

Had bad headaches this winter on right side of my head but figured it was sinus. They been gone now for a while though. I could hear ok after my ear cleaning last week but it's like its been really clogged since then.
