Hey guys. Just felt like sticking' my head in and saying "hey"!
I was researching some of my ancestors and found one (relatively) recent one that was shot and killed by Rube Burrow, a well known gunslinger in his day from Alabama. He's buried in Blount County, Alabama where most of my clan is from.
Any of you folks got any neat ones you found like that?
Post 'em up!
I'm sure some of you here have some real gee-whiz ones.

Chuck Yeager. WAY on down the line.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

One of the easiest ways to find your recent ancestors for the uninitiated like me is "Find a Grave" for your county. It has pictures of the headstones and relatives listed with links to their graves. It also has a search option to show all graveyards with your surname.

One of my forefathers was an early school master in Chilton County and lived with a local family. He married a 14 year old student who was also a daughter in the family he was living with. You'll have to use your imagination to fill in the rest. He was one of the early Chandlers in Chilton County.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

one of my anscestors was hung for stealing a horse in England.....
mothers mother(from Maryland) were close related to Lees of Virginia ..like Robert E, and 'Lighthorse" Harry Lee of Revolutionary War fame. Richmond Pearson Hobson of Spanish American fame, owned a house in Greensboro Al on my dads side.
A whole bunch that fought on both sides in the Civil War, several of them killed in action.
One of my cousins had a BIG family tree book researched and printed in 1952 er so, I have a copy I look at pretty regular.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Rube Burrows was my great great great uncle, train robber/gunslinger from Lamar County, many escapes from posseys, shot by a store keeper in Monroe or Wilcox Co. I've never looked at my family tree just know this from stories told by my Grandparents.

I've never checked into mine. A guy I work with has really dug into his ancestry. He had a whole list of interesting people and things. He is related to the Bush family and it wasn't as distant of a relation as you would have imagined.

William Barrett Travis distantly, and Colonel William Edward Travis of the Tennessee 5th, CSA. My mother has pretty good records of the Travis Family going back to Jamestown. My fiance is a Travis, Some of her family was from Tennessee and other parts of the country(military family). I wonder if it's all part of the same family
