Hey fellas I just realized teams are posted! I'm good with anything as far as team names go. Knock on wood I'm usually good for several birds each year, but you know how turkeys can be!! I don't know about the rest of you but I'm about to go crazy waiting for the 15th to get here!

Saw a couple very nice gobblers out my living room window this morning. No hens with them...just feeding through the pines. Hopefully they'll stick around another week or so.
Backyard turkey is a good thing!

Anyone taking a youth tomorrow? I'm going with friend and his son to film and call. Hopefully we get his son his first bird.

Any of the kids have any luck this morning? Had two gobble on roost yesterday morning - then go quiet. Struck up one at 9am, but he wasn't very fired up. Went back out yesterday afternoon, and made one gobble. He was across a big creek, and I didn't think we had a chance. Set up in the back of a small plot where I had some pics and called off and on. He couldn't stand it apparently, and finally flew the creek, and came fast on a string. But just like always, it would have been too easy if he walks the road coming in the back of the field. He went silent, and then I hear drumming straight across the plot - look up and see the top of his fan. I was able to swing the gun for my seven year old and try to get him locked in. Turkey dropped strut and stretched his neck out to look over the roll, while my son was still trying to re-position on the gun. He definitely saw that movement but kept looking. I thought told him to put the dot on his head and shoot, but he hesitated a little too much. Bird finally dropped his head back over the hill and left - game over. I had a heartbroken seven year old that learned his first real lesson. But - good times - and that lonely bird is on thin ice!

Will be Saturday before I can go. I did get 15 acres of pines burned yesterday, so hopefully they'll be checking it out. 10-4 on the burn. Nothing this morning. I've talked with folks in other areas that said the weather was perfect this morning. I must have been on another planet, cause it was so foggy and windy, I don't think I could have heard one 200 yards away in a tree. So I went straight work. Hoping for better weather soon.
