I think my dad is pretty interesting. Sniper at LZ X-Ray in Ia Drang Valley in '65, the "We Were Soldiers" battle. Generation before him were all liquor makers in Virginia. They made apple brandy rather than white liquor. Generation before that had a preacher in the mix somewhere. Dad did a little reading on the Campbells and I think they were bad dudes in Scotland. Cut your throat while you're sleeping or stuff like that.
On my mom's side, her mother was a Cooley as in Cooley Cemetery near Guntersville. Half of Marshall County kin to the Cooleys. Some of the Cooleys were in Civil War. Whew!! I thought you was gonna say Cooleys in Tuscaloosa county.

My Grandmothers' family is from W. Virginia and is related to some families named Hatfield & McCoys!! It's no wonder there's always a feud going on between my dad & his siblings..  On another note, my Bro-inlaw is second cousins with Tim Cook. He once had issues with his iPhone, I told him to just call his cousin and tell him to send him another one! He laughed and said " I doubt that's gonna happen".

A crusader king of Jerusalem, some knights, some rebels hanged by the British in America, some Creek Indians who burned down some state buildings in Mississippi, some Civil War vets, a WW1 vet who served in the Rainbow Division and died in the 40s from complications from getting gassed, then the relatives I knew who loved and tried their best to make me a good man.

Was the Flowers man killed in the charge up little round top or in another location? Don't know for certain but he was KIA that day and best I can tell the only action the 15th Alabama or any of Law's Brigade was in on July the 2nd was the action on the right for little round top. They spent most of the hot day double timing with one canteen. But for a little rest and some water the whole thing might have turned out different.

GG grandfather John Boley Lewis, 42nd Alabama Infantry, Company K "Bull Mountain Invincibles" Confederate Army.
GG grandfather Chess Jeffreys, 16th Alabama Infantry, Company G Confederate Army. He was a color bearer for the 16th colors at the battle of Shiloh, him and his brother was killed at Shiloh on the first day of fighting. Any battlefield has a certain reverence and almost holy ground feel to me but only Gettysburg and Shiloh put chills up my spine. It's uncanny.
