Will be getting on the road today after the wife's ob appointment. Got to make sure my little man is doing good. Plan on hunting a smaller tract of family land in the morning to start things off. It's around 200 acres and from cousins updates should have 3-4 longbeards on it. Tomorrow if I don't do any good there I am going to head to a piece of property that always produces birds for me. The ok may reason I am not going there to begin with is after my uncle passed my other cousins stopped farming it. They don't keep the roads or fields bush hogged or anything. I want to lay eyes on it in the daylight to see how it looks. Not to mention I normally don't kill birds there until 830 on. They usually roost right on the property line and pitch down into the neighbors planted pines. Then they come back to me after a bit. If things don't work out at first place it ought to be pretty good going over there. Then the rest of the week.....I'm not really sure what or where I will be. I plan on hunting sun up until sun down pretty much. At least until 3 birds are dead.

The birds at my club are practically silent on a good day. Add in storms and cold.....it gets tough. Heard only three birds all weekend. One wasn't on our property. The other two gobbled just a few times and shut it down well before I could get to them. Set up and cold called in areas I thought they might come to, but no joy.

We have 600+ acres of clear cut, and they are thinning another 300+ acres right now. Lousy timing!

Bird gobbled good this morning. On the next ridge, wide open to get to him. Dogs ended up going to him and he shut down. Poetically gobbled 20-25 times.

Nothing this morning gobbled.

Had a hot one yesterday, and he shut up when a dog started barking, WHERE he was strutting!

Still had two great mornings.

This morning was rough. Heard one bird about 730 about 600+ yds. He wouldn't respond and I ran out of land to get to him. Came and hunted another property and saw three snakes walking in and never heard a bird. Went to check on a field and decided to set up for awhile and called in two hens. Now I am at my grandmother's taking it easy. Deciding if I want to go deal with this gale force wind anymore.

Awesome Man! Had a beautiful day yesterday, only downside road to our river property was washed out. County fixed it by 9am. But it didn't matter birds weren't talking, and the damn bull nats are freaking horrible!!! I've never seen them that bad..

Did not go back out this evening. Going to hunt with my cousin in the am then go back to the property I called up the hens. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Bird two is down. Pretty decent bird 20.3 lbs 10in beard 1 3/16 and 1 1/4 spurs. Did not say a peep. Came in spitting and drumming coming to the strutting jake and hen. Hen came in with him and she caught me moving trying to get in a better position to shoot. She putted and took off running and I was telling my cousin to shoot him and he didn't so I had to lay him down before he left too. Dead at 708.

Thanks guys. Today was tough. Have not heard a bird. Called up 4 Jakes and three hens and that had been it. I am beginning to wonder if they are any birds left around here.

Well guys...tomorrow am is my last hunt before I head back to Al. The wind has been horrible this trip. Not to mention timber being cut and birds not gobbling. I think our numbers for the birds are down on birds as well. Sorry to have let the team down. I have tried I promise you that. Maybe I will get lucky tomorrow

Last hunt in Georgia for Clark was a bird any of us would dream to kill.
