Congrats again! Good looking spot. Looks like a low intensity burn thru those pines. Yep. I caught conditions right the 1st week in March and burned about 20 acres. The deer and turkey both are using them pretty good right now.

A little bit about this mornings hunt. As mentioned, I've sat down on fired up gobblers 3 different times only to have something crazy happen that shut them up (crazy squirrel, bobcat, another hunter). Today I got set up within about 150 yards of two that were hammering at anything that made noise (crows, truck horn on road, geese, etc..). Well about the time they flew down, a coyote stepped out about 20 yds to my right. I thought to my self "seriously?" not again. The birds were still out of sight so I just stood up and ran him off. Got set back down and about a minute later I heard something walking in the thicket behind me. I cut my eyes around slowly and it was another coyote that slipping in, so I ran him off. Finally the two birds strutted into view at about 75 yds and then hung up. I could tell they were looking at something and about that time 6 deer started running crazy all through the pines. They were covering about 5 acres and just running wide open back and forth and in circles. At this point I'm just shaking my head and thinking about this turkey plague that I can't seem to shake. They did this for 2 or 3 minutes and finally left. After about 15 minutes the birds calmed down and eased on my way. They finally got within about 30 yds and I picked the biggest one out.
I hate letting the yotes go, but shooting would have certainly shut the birds down. I'll work on them with some dirt hole sets.

Thought about going this morning before church, but had a long day yesterday and decided to sleep in. Walked outside about 8:00 and there were two in full strut not 150 yards from the house. I haven't seen those two before, so hopefully they'll stick around a few days. These "behind the house" turkey are making me a little jealous to be honest! All trespassing strutters would be shot on site! Good luck.

Well if I could shoot we would be even better in standings. Called in one Saturday for a buddy who shot over him and then called myself one in Sunday that stopped short about 45 yards. Tried him and missed. Called one up last Monday and couldn't get him out from behind a bush at 25 yards so no shot. Good thing is - at least you're on birds. If I hadn't hunted hard the first 10 days of season, I'd be struggling at my club. Went on vacation, then took my son on that KY youth hunt. Since getting back out listening here in AL, it has been slow and quiet. I did find one this morning that I can play with this week - but he's gonna be stubborn. Never gobbled on roost - found him gobbling on his own on the ground at 7am - and when I called to him, he went silent. Had to go to work so I left him, but he's gonna be a challenge.
