I am kicking around getting a new scope for my rifle. The rifle is a Tikka T3 in 7MM08 and it currently has a Leupold VXI 3-9X40. I am particularly looking at the Vortex DiamondbackHP 3-12X42.
I'm a student working part time so suggesting a $2K Swarovski is simply not realistic.
I'm wanting to stay under the $400 range or so, I'm more than willing to consider a used scope if it is backed by a good warranty.

I'd rock on and hunt with the Leupold but I know how it is to get the fever for new toys. Personally, I'm fighting the 4-wheeler itch myself but trying to hang tough. I only missed it 3 times last year, bringing out my 2 deer and planting my plot.

I'd just stick with the vx1 personally.

Check out marks outdoors. They have demos sometimes. I snagged a meopta a few years ago from them and its a great scope
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Look at Minox scopes. They use schott glass (same as Zeiss and Meopta) and carry a lifetime no fault warranty. Start here: www.cameralandny.com

I agree with sticking with leupold. I have a leupold VX2 50mm. Bought a used Zeiss conquest 50mm to replace the VX2 but the VX2 beat the Zeiss in clarity so I sold the Zeiss.

Something was wrong, somewhere. I've owned both, and think there are better options at both price points but the Conquest is markedly better in clarity and low light than the vx2.

Could have been something wrong with the Zeiss. I had several people compare the 2 and all preferred the Leupold between the 2 scopes I had. It was for my sons rifle and he said he liked the vx2 better.

I think the heavy duplex makes it look brighter in low light.

After doing some more searching I came upon Leupolds new VX3i line. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience looking through them. The bit of research I have done indicates them to be an improvement over the outgoing VX3. I am particularly interested in the VX3i 3.5-10X40. I can purchase this scope for around $290 or so.

I've had both VX2 and Conquest. I'm in the optic bidness and I love Zeiss on my equipment. However, I just could never settle in with the Conquest mainly due to the reduced eye relief. I felt like I was gonna get a black eye every time I shot. That's why I sold it and went back to the Leupy. I'll prob never own another brand.

I've got a 50mm Zeiss Conquest 3-9, like new, if you're interested. PM me.
The buck stops here.

I would go with Zeiss Conquest or Leupold VX-R.

Nothing against the Prostaff but I'm sure my VXI is comparable if not superior.
