Congrats man. Gonna get after em in the am..Birds are still silent & the bugs are freaking terrible still! Only my 3rd season here, but I've never seen it like this smh..

How did your hunt go? Didn't hear or see a den thing. The birds are there, but we're seeing an unusual amount of Coyote sign this spring. Don't know if that's why there being silent?

We have 2 new members who are turkey hunters ( but they haven't killed either) that probably hasn't help. I'm fixing to get in to check with my old landowner, he has property that's near me. I know he'll take on some hunts..

Managed to find a bird that was sounding off on Saturday monrning. He was out in our 460-acre clear cut. Managed to pull him to about 60-65 yards but no closer. Wasn't comfortable taking the shot at that distance so let him walk away. Tried to pull an end-around sneak attack on him but violated rule #1...I scared the turkey.
Finally heard some gobbling last Saturday, more than one bird was sounding off. Makes me feel a bit better about our next season. Maybe our birds need good weather to "get in the mood" to gobble, I dunno. The days I have able to hunt have been some cold, cloudy, windy, wet days. This past Saturday was a day with full sunshine at daylight, it was warm, with very little wind in the early AM.
Congrats to the guys who have managed to close the deal on a bird!!
