I love sitting in our small pontoon on a big pond, fishing with shiners, minnows or goldfish.

I don't. I normally bass fish, and use artificial lures but when I bream, crappie or cat fish it's with live bait.

Only if you are using it to catch the coveted tournament bass and keep them. grin

Well, at the 82 Classic, I told Roland he had cheated when he was telling me about his first 13 lb+ he had caught on a shiner at Okeechobee. He got a little excited and said he loved to fish with shiners!! I was just giving him a hard time. I never did have a problem with people using live bait and use it more than ever as I get older.

haleyville al,
Yeah alot of people look down on it. I don't care what you fish with. Only thing I care about is if the fish are biting

Just tell folks you caught it on a swimbait. It's a bait and it swims.

I don't really care if folks look down on me for using live bait. Catch em on what they're biting.

How do you like that bait tank you have there. I have been considering getting one so I can fish for stripes at Lake Martin. But then if I did, not sure where I could find gizzard shad or red horse suckers for sale that was close enough to the lake to keep them alive until I arrived.

As an avid bass fisher there is nothing like catching some shad and live bait fishing. It's unreal what size bass you can catch on the real deal. I have fished for an hour on a school before with artificial bait and then drop a shad down and it will get eat immediately There is nothing like it. I have always wanted to get some crawfish and try them

best one on the market bar none. I had a grayline before this one and I sent that piece of junk back and got this one. If you get a super bait tank II, you won't have to worry about keeping your bait alive till you get where you're going. I have kept shad alive in mine for probably 4 days or so. You could surely keep them alive longer. I've never had any die in it. Hell, I have kept stripers alive all day in it until I got home to clean them.

Inshore saltwater fishing I use live shrimp. But even with that it comes down to bait presentation. For example put a live shrimp on a basic Carolina rig without using a flurocarbon leader and see what happens. I use my share of top water lures and spoons but I catch more fish on live bait.

I defiantly look down on live bait fishing, so much so that last night I looked down the rod some 60-70 times as my son and I used minnows to fill the cooler with some Sacalait :-)

I don't care if they do. It's a lot of work catching bait sometimes.

Bass guys on Gville do too. I don't care. I still intend to catch a good un on a live bluegill one of these days.
