Anyone have some recommendations on choke and buckshot combinations? I'm hunting a place next year that only allows shotgun and buckshot. Haven't even pointed a shotgun at a deer since I was a kid and listening to the sweet sound of a hound doing his thing. Will be a 870 Rem, just want to know if someone has found a good combo.

I would think the best thing to do would be pattern YOUR shotgun because every gun is different. I know my turkey gun only likes certain loads and sizes for maximum kill ability. So I don't see why patterning buckshot would be any different

What chokes you have, and what length can you shoot?

Wish dw was here he is the buckshot man. Can I ask where you are hunting that buckshot is required. Most places seem to be outlawing it.

I'm glad this came up. Anyone shoot buckshot through a turkey tube? Thinking of seeing what a load of 3-inch 1s or 4s looked like through one.

I have all the standard chokes. Full, modified, ImpCylinder, and a carlson's coyote choke. Gun will be a 870. Just curious to know if anyone has seen common combinations that work. Trying to save my shoulder and time. I grew up dog hunting and have joined a very large club that has couple thousand acres dedicated to dog drives and only allow buck shot. I know some have negative views on hunting with dogs but I really love watching and listening to the dogs work.

My patternmaster is .715. I think it would be okay.
