I just joined. It ended up being $600 for a lifetime membership using the easy pay option.

I just went to nra website and it said lifetime is 1500. It is. If you call them they may extend you a lower cost. When I called the other day, they gave me my son's for $500. I was already a life member.

So the NRA is one of the most powerful special interest lobby groups on Capital Hill. That means they are actually effective unlike other organizations.
That is reason enough to join it, especially in a time when polls are showing that a majority of your fellow Americans (a.k.a. Sheeple) agree with the left in support of an "assault weapon" or magazine capacity ban. These non-gun owners don't understand and I can see why opinion might be swaying... if you hear the same rhetoric over and over out of the leftist media that gets hammered into your subconscious eventually. Even got Bill O'Reily asking what's wrong with just registering everyone's guns... typical New Yorker. Can't explain how that would prevent crime, but that's beside his point.
I'm a couple levels above a life member. My gun rights are very important to me. Been a member for 30+ years and clearly remember Bill Clinton on TV with his shotgun telling everyone he's a "sportsman" too and we just don't need those aweful magazines with over 10 rounds. And they passed the previous assault weapons ban just like that. The NRA fought but there were not as many of us are there are now.
With what I feel are more attacks on the horizon and potential liberal appointments to the Supreme Court I feel everyone should consider joining
Getting a Coffee Mug or a Magazine is not really why I'm a member.

Yep, sorry about jumping the gun in the OP, but I did find out they will negotiate WAY down as Doekiller and Wiley pointed out. Reckon I got a little excited. For my transgression, ![laugh laugh](/forum/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif) I did upgrade from NRA Life Member to the NRA Endowment Membership for $250 and bought a new Life Membership from GOA for $500 yesterday alone. That $750 ought to buy a round of drinks for a squad of Senators and a couple of pro gun lobbyists, but if that's what it takes......... Maybe next time, out of the blue, we can poll serious people on here with money in hand that want a Life Membership in GOA and NRA and negotiate a low-ball fee with both organizations.

I'm going to take advantage and upgrade to life Endowment for $250 too. Great deal. They do tend to call me a lot but thanks to Nomorobo it hangs them & all the political calls up after one ring. Don't they know I get all the important firearms legislative alerts from Marion Hammer! She's another great American fighting for our 2nd Amendment rights. ![thumbup thumbup](/forum/images/graemlins/default/grinning-smiley-003.gif)

I don't get a lot of unwanted phone calls, because I'm fairly protective of my phone #. I DO, however, get a lot of mailers from NRA. That might be because I regularly contribute to them, 20 here, 50 there 25 over here. I'm not wealthy by any means, but I do give my share.
I've cut down some on my Church monetary giving to be able to contribute more to Constitutional causes, but still volunteer a lot of my time to community interests in the name of the Church.
I don't need a raise for the fat preacher and fresh flowers on the Sunday alter while my 1A, 2A, and 4A rights are wilting.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up! I was $325 into a $1000 life membership, so I settled the difference for $175! Saved me $500, Thanks Deadwood!

Yep. I called them on the old fashion telephone and told them about this thread, and they said yes to the $500 Lifetime Membership
