One thing I've never understood is why people like sad/depressing songs so much. I, personally, try to avoid them as much as possible. Same with downer shows/movies/books/etc. A lot of people will tell you they particularly enjoy them when they're feeling down because they can relate to the songs. Like chicks listening to breakup songs after getting dumped. To me, that seems counterintuitive. If I'm down about something, I'd much rather listen to something that takes my mind off of it and/or cheers me up.
There's too much sad, depressing crap going on in real life to intentionally seek it out in music, tv, film, etc. Part of it may be that your situation doesn't seem as bad. Honestly I think this is why shows like "My 600 lb life" do so well.

I was listening to the little girl by John Michael montgomery earlier and it dang near brought a tear to my eye
That was going to be my number one when I saw the title of the thread. Another one that gets me every time. A fellow from my home town was murdered one evening, along with his girlfriend. The guys brother got up and sang The Dance at his funeral. He didn't make it through the song...and no one else did either. "alyssa lies" by Jason Michael Carroll...its pretty rough Another one that will bring a tear to the eye.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

Over a page in, and no one has mentioned "Whiskey Lullaby" by Paisley and Krauss?
Or..."If You're Reading This" by Tim McGraw?
And yes...agree on "Crying for Me" by Toby Keith...especially knowing the background of the song and the friendship it's based on.
"You think I care? Roll Damn Tide"
Have you tried Google?

It's not country but one of the saddest songs I've ever heard is " fix you " by Coldplay. And no I'm not gay! Go ahead and listen to it when you are by your self so the family won't see that soft side. I dare you to. Then you'll agree with me.

That's a goodun....I can remember listening to that song 100 times around 1-2 grade in my dad's truck.
If you want to always win, never play anyone better than you!
