I'll add "yard sale" by Sammy Kershaw Sammy Kershaw is great for self pity. A very talented country artist. How about "Feed Jake" by Pirates of the Mississippi? That one will get the allergies flared up for sure.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

The way hunting used to be. Someone should write it. Standing on the dirt road, tying up my boot lace Just turned the walkers loose, it's gonna be a good race! Something like that? That's how it used to be.

not even close.
Chris Knight, "Down the River" Good choice man. I love Chris knight North Dakota, is another sad song of his that I really like. I'm not a big Kenny chesney fan anymore but his song "there goes my life" always hit home for me.

To me, that seems counterintuitive. If I'm down about something, I'd much rather listen to something that takes my mind off of it and/or cheers me up.
There's too much sad, depressing crap going on in real life to intentionally seek it out See I could take the above and turn it into a knock the cover off the ball home-run shot all the way over the cheap seats comparison to a specific type of spring time hunting...but I'm not going to..

Good ones have already been named. But I've always liked "Holes in the Floor of Heaven" Skeeter davis the end of the World...
