I drove my 20O4 4 Runner for 9 years. It was a V6 4x4. I loved that SUV and it served me well hunting, but the 04' and 03' have a potential head gasket/cylinder issue that may require a new engine for a true fix. This problem usually occurs after 150,000 miles is what I was told (I don't know if the V8s have this problem). Supposedly the problem was fixed from 05 and forward and may not be in every 03/04 4Runner, but it was in mine right at 155,000 miles. Either way I bought a new 4Runner in 2014 and love it too. I prefer a smaller SUV for hunting purposes so I can get into tight spots a little easier. The head gasket issue was not fixed until later. Like 08 or 09. I bought a 2005 Tacoma V6 from Courtesy gmc in Trussville that had 190k miles on it. Had a check engine light on when I bought it but I got it cheap. Had a code for misfire on #6 which ended up being the head gasket issue. Labor is like $2500 to fix. Don't remember what parts where.

I just looked at a brand new Sequoia yesterday morning. $66,000 for a top of the line one. Sheesh!

that's why you find one someone has taken the azzkickin on it new and buy it used...lucked up and found a 4x4 one a neurologist had driven to the hospital and back (36k miles) for 3 years. the problem there is that most soccer moms that bought them didn't get 4x4, so they are a rare find. i was prepared to drive 5hrs away for a 4x4 when this one popped up an hour away. finding a wholesale auction buyer will be your best bet for finding one fairly quick...i looked for almost 5 months after i finally decided what i wanted.
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

What would a fair price be for a 2001 4runner SR5, 216K, very good condition, 4wd and all stock? No more than $4k
