Hey rocket, I actually saw 15-20 up high yesterday at the property around rocky branch, surprisingly.

Hmmmmmmm, full month before velvet shedding time.

Early rubs are usually a good sign that an older buck is in with the bachelor group. The early rubs I see start around OCT. and then they rub the woods down a couple of weeks before rutting around Dec 10-25.

I certainly wasnt looking for them, and didnt expect to see any at all at this point in the year, but in deer hunting there is always an exception. They were all within a 200 yard strecth of hardwoods/thicket.

That made me lol just thinking about it

I wouldn't be surprised. I've seen pig sign not too far from there before, probably a direct result of those pigs that got imported into the valley several years ago. I can also show you some trail cam pics of pigs in the mountains of Jackson County. One was a huge sow coming up through a steep bluff cut just like a deer would. My youngest son killed a fat sow last year on a different property that certainly isn't flat. There were 6 of them, nose to tail coming around the ridge just like a group of deer would. I don't want to hijack the thread, but those hogs are very adaptable, and more populated than most people think. CD.

Whether pigs are up there or not I have no idea. But if you think pigs can't scale them mountain s better than deer you are mistaken.
