no i did not make that up, i said dissolve dust and dirt, not remove. i worked for Scotts for many years and was taught that by their management. you are right about the waxy leaf surfaces. my neighbor has been a horticulturist for over 30 years and told me the same thing. It may "also" do those things, but the reason people add surfactant of any kind is to decrease the surface tension so the water will still better and not bead.
