Around the 2nd week of September they'll start rubbing off the velvet. Way too early yet.

I've started seeing some sign last week way up high. The high altitude bucks start making sign earlier than the ones down around the crop fields. The high altitude bucks definitely rut earlier

I've been looking 1200 to 1700, would you consider 1700 high for Jackson?

Gotta have a little fun when you can find it in the summertime pal. Ain't nothing else to do. 2dogs told you just right. You'll start seeing a little sign when the velvet begins to come off.

Around the middle of December there will be so many rubs on that place it will blow your mind.

I'm not joking. The saplings and cedars on every road and most of the field edges will be rubbed. They aren't easy to kill but the bucks are definitely there. Ride down the road into King's Cove around Christmas and you will be amazed. There aren't 50 pine trees on the whole 5000 acres, but almost every cedar will get hit. Even the ones 8" in diameter.
