I have some connectors that are for phone lines. You stick 2 (or up to 3) wires inside and squeeze them with pliers and it makes a connection. There is a silicone like crap inside them to keep them from corroding. They are red and clear plastic.
If that will work for you PM me and I will mail you some. They might be available a Lowes, but I have not seem them in a long time. I have had these for about 10 years... I thought about the same thing but its going to depend on what size wire it is. Some electrical supply houses carry them too. UR or UY connectors
