Our club has rules in place but our club president is a really good guy but tends to let people get away with stuff like work days etc. People take advantage of that. Last year's some guys tried to take advantage of the number of does and buck limits and he finally had to put his foot down and ran a couple of the bad apples off the club.

I really don't think $100 per day is enough of a fine. If you live over and hour away, you gotta think that gas, food/drinks, etc will be nearly $100. Plus all your time and effort factored in, and missed opportunity of whatever else they would do that day. I bet there's several folks that would take advantage and just cough up the money to avoid working. I think $200 per day could persuade your lazy members to show up and limb roads.

We are doing the same thing plus the first two weekends in Oct. Must make 2 out of those 6. I also agree that $100 is too low. .

IMO, the best approach I've seen in this thread was the one by Tootall. Basically, it requires the members to prepay their fine, but you then reimburse them when they make the workdays. And as stated, $100 isn't enough. When I hunted in the SW part of the state, $100 didn't touch the cost of gas and room and board for the weekend.

There was a thread a while back with different rules. One I remember seeing and thought it was great was
Missed work day = missed weekend during the rut
I think this would get people's attention

WOW! This touched a nerve. But if you're a worker in a hunting club, then yes, this hit home!!!!!

BTW, I would Never join a hunting club that "roped off" sections for senior members. I don't believe in the fact that another member should claim an area or get mad if another hunter hunts that area. I pay the same as you and you pay the same as me. I will not tell you where you can hunt and your ass ain't telling me where I can hunt!! We'll be fair about it and greedy members hurt hunting clubs. I haven't killed a buck in 4 yrs and I'm ok with that. I have my standards and bow hunt mature whitetails. But I can't stand greedy members.

Id bet ya lunch if clubs started doing that more members would show up on the workdays.
Excluding the older or disabled guys a club I was in a few years back would have 6 saturday work days and required you to make 2 out of the 6. If you worked weekends they would give you a task to do on your off day during the week to make it up.
If you came during week there was a dry erase board and you put your name/date/and what you did on the board and you got credit for a workday after someone checked behind you.

The attendance sheet for each workday was posted at the tag out board for everyone to see who had showed and who didnt and it stayed up all year till the next years workdays came around.
In that club if you didnt make workdays, or make them up youd best not open your mouth and say anything around the place needed something done to it or the sharp tongued president would quickly school you and remind you that you werent there.

Posting a attendance sheet so everyone sees who doesnt make the workdays (or make up) seems to help encourage or shame them into coming.

Fining people for not showing up for work days is OK, but at that point, I think the writing is on the wall. This is not the right person to be riding the coat tails of those who do want to work for their hunting season.

Once you don't show for a series of work days, you are on the clock for a vote out by the other members.

I belong to a club in Clayton AL but live in Chicago- 835 miles one way. I'm 69 years old and don't own a 4 Wheel Drive vehicle. Before I joined the club I asked the club president if this was a problem and if there was work that could wait until January when I'd head down for deer season. I also throw in some extra money for fertilizer/seed/weed killer. So far it works for me and I try to help the other members by giving them free handloads and such.
