Ya'll are full of crap. It won't corrode a barrel as bad but it will darn sure corrode one if left fouled for any amount of time! This is twice now it has corroded mine pretty bad. First chance I get, I'm going to a smokeless.

thank you Jughead never liked Blackhorn either I certainly like it better than 777 and Pyrodex (easier to clean up than either of them), but it's still the same ol song and dance on the corrosion front though....just not as bad.

I guess I might ought to shoot the BH out of mine, it's been loaded since last fall.

I guess I might ought to shoot the BH out of mine, it's been loaded since last fall. I would be interested in what your barrel looks like after it being loaded for so long. I agree that it is corrosive when fired and left fouled but I have loaded mine at the beginning of the ML season and left it there for over a month with no damage whatsoever.

I left mine loaded with Pyrodex for months before with no damage. It was loaded in a clean barrel.

It's been my favorite black powder substitute so far, but I've always cleaned after firing and before putting up before season up. First season tho last year but didnt notice anything during period I left loaded. Accuracy has been second to none so far for me wit BH really woke my Encore up. It is my favorite too. It truly is some good stuff. I still want to make the move to smokeless though.

I haven't had a reason to leave the pellets.

I haven't had a reason to leave the pellets. Says the guy that believes TSS 7's are necessary to kill a turkey. In other words, your opinion don't count.

But then again, my muzzleloader isn't corroding, either. Leave it fouled for a couple of months after shooting it with those pellets and come report back. I swapped to Blackhorn because I had 3 or 4 different people tell me they had left their barrels fouled for several months with no corrosion. Seemed like a cheaper/better solution (for lazy arses like me) than a smokeless MZ. Mine rusted like hell though. Might be because mine is blued instead of stainless. I dunno. I'll prolly just pass it down to my son for when he needs one (ain't got but about $175 in it including scope and it is super accurate). I'm on the lookout for a smokeless. Piss on the rest of it!

Most people are to lazy to properly take care of a muzzleloader. I sight in with a clean barrel, therefore my barrel is always clean. I have left mine loaded for 6 months with blackhorn without a problem. So if you miss on the first shot or if you wanted to stay and try to kill a buck after shooting a doe....you clean it in the tree or just go home and clean it instead of keeping on hunting? That has always been my issue with the "sighting it in with a clean barrel" argument. It just ain't practical from a hunting standpoint when hunts often span long weekends, consecutive weekends, etc. If they shot the same on a clean barrel versus a fouled one it would be super easy to deal with one but they don't...and that's why they suck regardless of which powder you put in em!
